Catch 24 Elmont Inc. — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I ordered food from this place off uber eats and was disgusted to see a large bug in my veggies (broccoli). This is neglectful and nasty and unsafe. Called the store and spoke with Rodge and after asking to speak with a manager they said he was next door then hung up on me. I called right after and spoke to Mervin who said the manager doesnt come until 6-7. Call was made at 5 pm. They said the manager name is Junior. Went into the store in person the next day and spoke with junior and showed him the photos. He was unimpressed, unshocked, and not surprised. He told me yes it came from the broccoli (clearly) and he said tells his employees to make sure they wash the veggies because when they get new bags—which is everyday apparently, theres little bugs in the veggies. This is however clearly large and has been growing for some time & clearly wasnt washed and was just thrown in and cooked with the broccoli. So he admitted that his employees/cooks are untrained and neglectful. He says he has talked to them multiple times & has alerted his supervisor of the issue before of issues similar to mine. He continued to explain that this issue has been discussed before. When I state that this is an issue and unsafe food handling he tells me in front of a witness that he understands because he could imagine if I was allergic to it or something. I tell him thats besides the point a human should not be consuming insects/bugs first of all. Secondly you guys are aware of the issue for a while and yet there is no solution. No new vendors, no new trained employees who are fit to handle food safely. I said if they cant even wash veggies properly I doubt they can handle cleaning meat. Its disgusting. He then explains how the meat is cleaned and he says he tells his employees how to clean the meat and he continues to contradict himself because if your employees dont wash the veggies unless you are there watching them, how are you going to prove that the meat is cleaned before it is cooked. The place in person is dirty. Ordering off uber eats you have no clue of the condition of the establishment in person. I tell him that keeping employees you know are unfit for the job is a major risk to human consumption safety and he tells me he understands because he’s picky with his food as well. I tell him its not a matter of not wanting garlic on my food its the matter of I dont eat bugs, specifically something that appears to be a caterpillar, worm, and i pray not a maggot. Ive probably wrote 2 reviews in my life I don't care for them but this place needs on hopefully they can fix something.

Customer Service - There is none , I walked in a lady who looked miserable greeted me with " Yes ? " As if she's bothered as if I asked her to work here. She was trying to speak to me through the glass food case which is between the two of us on top of the noise that's already in the place due to the AC or whatever air machine is running . After clearly not going to be able to hear me she poked her head from around it still expecting me to yell my order which I am not. I ask her like are you going to take my order at the register because I'm confused to what's going on. She now comes out a little more to ask what I would like. When I was done she goes to register to put my order in LOL not sure why we just didn't go there in the first place. She is very rude and unwelcoming which is not good considering she was the only one there , it was very awkward and uncomfortable

FOOD - Food was mid , the corn and my whiting was good Mac was not. Whiting was good with tarter and hot sauce it was not memorable. Maybe would've tried it again another time but the customer service was distasteful for a first time impression . I will not return or recommend . 2/10

I haven't visited the restaurant yet but super impressed with the quality of their delivery. Order 3x times now and I think I should go check the place out for a dine in meal. Ill start with the Banana Pudding , some people would say that banana pudding is not a dessert they get at a restaurant. I say your crazy if you don't try it, simply amazing every time and a large portion! All their portions are larger than average! I've ordered their fried shrimp and fried whiting with mac and cheese, broccoli , fries and rice each time they were all prepared with the same quality and great taste. Broccoli sounds like a boring side but its a good way to tell if a restaurant knows how to cook , if you mess up steaming veggies you probably going to mess up a lot of other stuff too.
