I stopped by CJ’s Coffee Shop with some decent expectations, but I walked away feeling underwhelmed — not so much by what I ordered, but by what I paid for it. $13 got me something that felt more in line with what I might pick up from a bodega or a corner deli, not from an established eatery in Rockville Centre.

I understand that with a lot of restaurants, sometimes you're paying more for the ambience than the food. But in this case, I didn’t feel like I got either. There was nothing particularly memorable or special about the experience to justify the price.

To be clear, I’m not necessarily upset with the food itself — it was passable — but it didn’t match the cost or the expectations set by the setting. I am still curious to try other items on the menu, but I have to admit I’m hesitant now.

Also worth noting: parking in the area isn’t great, which only adds to the overall...

This is the place your brain thinks of when it hears "Diner". It's got an amazing old school, classic Americana feel that I absolutely adore. The place is pretty small with only a handful of tables and counter space, so make sure you grab your spot early. I got the cinnamon bun French toast with a side of bacon and coffee, and the portion was perfect and not overly sweet at all and the bacon was perfectly crispy. Coffee, despite being named a coffee house, was your run of the mill coffee. Staff was very friendly and helpful. No parking lot, so make sure you are okay with parking on the side streets and walking a little. Some sources had said it was cash only but they do take cards now! The prices are literally the best I've seen anywhere, best bang for your buck no questions asked. I'll be happily returning here...

It's been a while since I came here. I usually really enjoyed this spot.

Found out today a few years ago it was sold to a new owner.

I ordered a egg white omelette with cheddar, onions, mushrooms and spinach. Plus an iced coffee. The food just didn't taste as good as it used to. They had more staff there than I've ever seen before and yet not a single person checked on me. No one asked how the food was, if I needed a refill, if I wanted anything else. Before the people working would do these things and made the visit more pleasant.

Anyway, I go to checkout and my bill was $23 ... Honestly, I didn't think anything of it. Paid cash left a tip. Half way going to my next destination I realized I was over charged for mediocre food and service. Not a good way to...

If you're looking for a really solid coffee shop / diner, you've found it. It has that old school feeling, but kept up to date and super clean. I sat at the counter, and there are quite a few tables and booths around. It's fairly busy on a Sunday morning without getting too wild or overwhelming. Just folks coming in and out of their regular neighborhood place. The staff is super welcoming, attentive, and quick, always offering to top up a coffee or refill a water. They handled the busyness expertly, without stumbling or stress. I got the two eggs with bacon and potatoes, all perfectly cooked. The coffee was exactly what you'd expect, with no complaints. Definitely coming back here for more.
