The Bindy special was created by a very hungry 16 year old who had a massive case of the munchies.
The sandwich which was already being made but called a "chicken cutlet sandwich" at the time had the classic russian dressing but lacked the bacon. I used to add the bacon.
My friends and I frequently bought sandwiches, drinks, and dutchmasters late at night. So the manager at the time was very friendly with us. There were other sandwiches like an "Ed Special" and so on..
The name Bindy derives from my last name which sounds like bindy. So when i walked in the store they used to shout bindyyyyy.
One night they were redoing the signs with the names of the sandwiches and fate have you we were there. So the manager asked if i wanted to name a sandwich and we agreed on Bindy Special. I always wanted lettuce on that sandwich. It was meant to have lettuce but i forgot to tell him when he was writing the sign which was just written on a paper plate and scotch taped to the deli glass at the time.
So folks as the late Paul Harvey would say....now you know the rest of the story. Enjoy the...
Read moreI'm an honest person when I comes to reviews and what I think about places I've eaten and new places. Green Deli is a convenience store/deli that has been around for 25+years. I've been going there for that long. For new comers it may not look like a place for you. You may even say to yourself I'll try a different place. I myself have gone to a place closer just for convenience and yes this new place has a different style. But if your caught working until 2 AM and you want something more than fast food you can be assured Green Deli will be opened and there Bindy will fill your stomach. Sometimes there is a wait but good things come to those who wait. That's the other thing that I love about them. The different types of heroes and if you have an idea for something different they will make it for you so your never stuck eating the same heroes. My advice is if your hungry and you got no where else to go Green deli is a...
Read moreThis is my second time here, thought I'd give them a chance to redeem themselves... First time I patronized them I had their famous "Bindy"... It was a hard/stale breaded chicken breast which was microwaved along with the bacon... I threw it out after one bite. Today I was short on time and decided to get a breakfast sandwich, what's more NY than a BaconEggAndCheese on a roll? So I ordered that with hash brown... When I order this from anywhere else the sandwich the sandwich has some weight to it. This one did not. I will say that the sandwich was fresh and the bacon wasn't out of the microwave, but for $8 Dollars?! Even if a single egg was a dollar, you put $1buck worth of bacon (didn't) the slice of cheese 50¢ and so was the roll that's $3 cost plus the few pieces of potato... Let's call it $3.50 all in... Yes I know there's a cost to doing business and you're in business to make a profit but 120%?!! I won't be...
