Gyro Village — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I cannot say enough good things about Gyro Village and the incredible service we received from Teddy and his team. We were looking for a restaurant to cater a meal for our good friend, who recently suffered a loss in her family. Since we’re not from the area, we relied on Google reviews to help us choose the right place, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to go with Gyro Village.

From the moment I called, Teddy went above and beyond. I explained how many people we needed to feed and that it was for a grieving family. I initially tried to put together an order from the catering menu, but Teddy took the time to truly listen, take notes, and then told me he’d call me back in a few minutes with a plan. True to his word, he called back shortly after and guided us in selecting the best options, ensuring we got the most value for our money.

Even though my interaction with Teddy was brief, it was immediately clear that he is not only a great business owner but also a genuinely kind and compassionate person. He and his team delivered incredible food, right on time, helping to provide a moment of comfort for our friend and her family during a difficult time.

To Teddy and the entire Gyro Village team—thank you for your kindness, professionalism, and amazing food. You truly made a difference, and I now understand why this restaurant has so many outstanding reviews. I don’t make it out to Long Island often, but I promise I’ll be visiting in person soon to shake your hand.

I can't say enough good things about Gyro Village. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I am greeted with genuine smiles every time I come in to pick up my orders.

My husband and I have ordered the gyro and grilled chicken, Greek salad, and rice bowls. The serving sizes are quite generous - my husband has a big appetite and still managed to get about 3 meals out of his rice bowl with grilled chicken. The rice seems unassuming, but to me it tastes like the rice that comes out of my Greek best friend's grandmother's kitchen. It's light yet flavorful without being salty, and it's the perfect compliment to their meat options.

Given how much we've been enjoying our meals at Gyro Village, I suggested to my elderly parents that we cater our upcoming Thanksgiving dinner with them. The staff was patient and talked through the best options for us. I really appreciated that I was advised I could go with the half tray of grilled chicken rather than the full I thought might be needed and, if when I picked up the order I felt it wasn't enough, they'd make an individual serving for me to add onto it. Their honesty and genuine desire to make you happy with your food is truly touching.

We went to Gyro Village today for the first time and absolutely loved it! We live in Astoria where there is a ton of Greek food; however, this absolutely is our new favorite! It was well worth the drive! We got the Greek nachos, Greek zucchini fritters, spinach pie, the mixed gyro platter, and the Nutella crepes! Everything was very authentic. The spinach pie was homemade, unlike most other places where they reheat a frozen pie. The meat was so fresh and the sausage was to die for in the platter. The zucchini fritters melted in your mouth. It truly felt like a homemade meal. Couldn’t recommend this place more! While we were eating, we spent time talking to the owners and they were so nice and personable! They mentioned that they have only been open a month and we were shocked by how great the place is already! Amazing customer service, clean restaurant, amazing food, and a comfortable homey feel.
