Jerk On The Water — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

A girlfriend of mine and I decided to do dinner. She asked me to think of a new place I wanted to try. I sent her 3 options. Jerk on the Water was the first. We agreed on it and ALMOST left when we arrived to find that we had to order at the window and then sit in a limited outdoor seating area with 4-5 tables by the water. I’m so glad we decided to stay! We both ordered Rasta Pasta. I had it with Salmon. She had hers with shrimp. The dish was just divine! Well-seasoned and downright delicious! The large portion was too much to eat in one sitting so we both went home with people bags!! The staff we encountered were very friendly and brought our meals out when they were ready! One of the chefs even brought us an amuse-bouche shrimp to taste! Great food and charming service while catching a breeze by the water listening to some classic reggae that made me wanna get up and dance. A lovely evening.. As Arnold Schwarzenegger said...

The food is excellent. The fries are among the best I've had, even if I'm probably the only one in my family that can handle how spicy it is. However, I'm not amused that they don't allow substitutions on sides for things that are on their menu nor was it clear if they were merely out of pumpkin rice for the time being, a temporary special, or something they have removed from their menu when I inquired about it. I actually would like clarification from the owner of the business on the pumpkin rice situation because I have a photo of your business's menu with pumpkin rice under sides and that was what had prompted me to come by in the first place. So despite loving the food, it's questionable if I will return.

I'm not going to return because they lie to their customers. I actually called them about it and when asked about it again, told that such a thing isn't on their on menu. I advise against going due to...

Yesterday, 8/18/2023 was my first experience at JOTW, which was highly recommended by one of my patients a few weeks ago. I couldn't remember the name of the place, but I remember her saying " it's the only jerk place on the strip, so you can't miss it". So I went with that... and she couldn't have more correct. We always hear of people raving about restaurants only to be disappointed, so I intentionally ordered a small meal. I ordered the jerk shrimp whole wheat taco and jerk chicken whole wheat taco, and a side of fries. CRAZY AMAZING! I can't say enough how delicious the food is. You've gotta try it. The place was clean and the owner was very friendly, which for me, that alone will make me return. For me, it's all about customer service....
