I came here before and it was very good in a Chinese flavored japanese ramen kind of way. This place is in no way an authentic Japanese ramen spot but I don’t think it’s claiming to be. However, this time I came back, it was kind of a let down. I only ate here once before about a year ago but that experience I would have rated 5 stars. This time, I’m rating it 3 stars and I’d probably not come back. This being said, this place is probably still the best ramen spot in the area…for now.
I ordered the brown sugar bubble tea, fried chicken, and a spicy shoyu ramen. I asked for the bubble tea to be less sweet but I don’t think they can adjust sweetness levels because it was very sweet. It came with jelly pieces and tapioca which was nice but the jelly didn’t particularly add anything to the drink and the tapioca was too soft for my liking. The fried chicken was actually a good size for the price but it wasn’t amazing. It came out piping hot (a huge plus) but the chicken was not very tender. Also the sauce that came with it was a swirl of what looked to be spicy mayo and a sweet soy sauce. I would have preferred them to serve the sauces separately. The spicy shoyu ramen broth was quite good and had a good soy sauce pork both flavor without being overly thick. However the noodles were not chewy enough and were slightly over cooked. The three pork slices that was served with the ramen were tough and tasted old. The last time I was here, the pork was tender and melted in my mouth. I’m not sure if they were having an off day but these are just my...
Read moreThere were around a dozen of us and we got our food prepared and delivered so quickly. I know that's how ramen shops usually operate but it's nice to see how quick and attentive this staff is. You get to order your own item individually with a QR code to view the menu and pay a separate check up front before your meal comes, no hassles at all. I think all of our orders came within 5-10 minutes. If you're a big group and you get the side booths, your group will be broken up by unattached tables so the staff can go in and out easily (as well as the customers themselves).
I got the vegan soy broth, as everything else is pork broth or rice. Their fries are surprisingly hot and crispy, which is a shame to other restaurants that specialize in such because these fries had no reason to be this good.
The bathrooms were very clean and modernized. This place clearly takes good care of everything.
There is parking on the street or across the stores in a parking lot. I forgot if the street parking was metered or not, but we went on a Sunday so it didn't affect us.
The shop is decorated passionately with One Piece references, so a fan won't be disappointed. If you're a new fan of the show, there are indirect spoilers across the wall, so just be...
Read moreOpened up right around me not too long ago been meaning to come here and finally did today. They were busy but everyone was in and out super quick. I decided to dine in since it was raining and most of their traffic was take out. Place is decent, not too many seats, was a bit humid but bearable. We ordered the tonkatsu and shoyu ramen. Wasn't pretty but Very delicious. I honestly didn't expect much but they surprised me! Noodles were perfectly cooked, broth was tasty and not too salty or oily. Definitely one of the better local spots I've been to and I've been to a lot around NY. We got the pork buns and takoyaki for apps. The takoyaki, also didn't except anything but wow ended up being great! Flavorful, crunchy, not soggy or drenched in sauce. Excellent. Pork bun actually was a BIT of a let down. The meat was super dry, but still delicious. Oh the meats in the ramen (pork and chicken respectively) were also kinda dry. I think that's the only thing I wish was better but overall absolute delight and can't wait to come back soon. There's a decent selection on their menu so I have a lot to try. Staff was also super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend especially bc their prices are very good for what...
