They get special order cakes wrong!
Came in to place an order. First of all, I was left waiting for 20 minutes. To the point that a line started mounting behind for specialty cake orders. At no point did they workers make eye contact or let me know that they would be with me. Instead I had to walk up to them and ask if I could be helped. By the time they finally came over to help, the girls was short and rushing my order due to the line that had now formed behind me. She took my order in like a minute and didn't ask questions, didn't confirm the order, gave me 1 word answers to my questions and done. . . One thing I am certain of is that I asked for 3 things in that minute 1) "50 person cake", 2) Doc McStuffin design and 3) French Cream.
When I came in to pickup my cake, the order was WRONG. As you can imagine I was now even more frustrated because of how I got treated upon ordering. The "50 person cake" became a cake for maybe 30. The worse part is that the manager, tried to tell me that I got what I had ordered, a "half-sheet cake". I don't even know what the heck "Half-sheet" even means as I am not a baker, much less order a "half-sheet" cake. I specifically asked for a 50 person cake".
Reasons I got the 50 person cake is because it was to be the center piece of our birthday table, and a 50 person cake though lower in profile was supposed to be a lot larger (wider). How did I know that? I came in with my wife to inquire in to pricing and physical dimensions of cakes (not "sheets"). Instead the girl entered a order for a taller but extremely tiny cake.
Secondly the cake I should have received would have pink writing a white frosted cake. Instead, and inexplicably so, the cake I received had pink writing on same colored pink frosting Result, writing made almost invisible.
The manager tried to make it right but the damage had already been done. Unless they could produce a 50 person Doc Mcstuffin cake with French Cream in 10 minutes (impossible), there was nothing he was going to be able to do to satisfy my original order which is all I wanted from the start. A special order cake is not a pair sneakers where if someone orders you the wrong color or size, no biggie store has other colors and sizes in stock. A special ordered cake is unique and specific to one's need! As the old adage goes ""Sorry" doesn't fix the lamp".
In summary, Mario's makes good tasting cake. But if I come in to order a cake that is going to cost me $80-$100 dollars, it would have been nice if the young lady taking my order spent 80-100 seconds on said order! Had she at least confirmed my order back to me, we would have gotten it right and I would have walked away a happy customer.
Side note: As I was coming in to pickup my cake, there was another lady who was visibly upset because she had been given the wrong cake altogether, and had to come back. Thus, clearly I am...
Read moreI am honestly disgusted by my experiences here! October 2019 I ordered a gender reveal cake. Came up with the final design and decided I wanted the cake dyed the color of the baby. I asked the man I was dealing with (forgot his name) if he was going to write down the gender of the baby and his response was "don't worry I will write it when you leave I don't want you to see what I write." The day of the gender reveal my mom and mother in law go to pick up the cake and sent me the picture of the cake. The design was perfect except for the writing. We agreed the writing would be on the cake but it was on the board the cake was sitting on. It still looked good but my mother was insistent they fix it because that is not what I ordered. Immediately after my mom said this isn't what my daughter ordered, the man we were dealing with says "I need to take the cake back." Basically, the never dyed the cake and it was just white inside. He said don't worry we will dye the cream the color of the baby it will be done in 30 minutes. My mom said absolutely not my daughter wanted the cake the color of the baby not the creme and she paid for the cake being dyed. The man immediately answers back he can not dye the cake blue which unfortunately ruined the gender reveal for both my mother and mother in law. I should have stopped going to Mario's after this experience but the cake was actually really good so I gave them another shot. Today, I go in for a cake smash for my son's first birthday. This is a four inch cake we r designing. We came up with a white roset design with gold glitter. I asked if we could add fondant and the lady I was working with says that would add another 200 dollars to the cake. I honestly didn't think much of it and was like ok I don't need fondant. She proceeded to tell me the cake would cost me $60. That has to be a joke I said to her. My gender reveal cake that served 40 people was $55. I just walked out! I called another local bakery. The same exact design with the white rosets and gold glitter with a fondant tag....drum roll please...$15.95. I will never step foot into this bakery every again! Everyone save yourself please. They mess up and scam you! Save the...
Read moreI have never been here before yesterday I went in to pick up a cake for someone else that place an order here. I first walk in and this man with bald head is yelling at a young Hispanic man asking him when was the last time he scraped and mopped the floor. Everyone at the counter is too involved in trying to translate to the young man about mopping the floor meanwhile I am standing there not greeted at all I tell the older lady that I am there to pick up a cake for someone. She goes to the back and comes back out with no response. I see another lady come out like a chicken with her head cut off I ask how long will it be before they can bring the cake out I am in a cab, it's raining and the cake should be ready so the older lady says oh it will be ready in 5 minutes. Mind you this cake was ordered 2 days prior. It took them 20 minutes to finish the cake that should have already done. So the mouthy man that was screaming to the young man that doesn't speak English says your cake was to be picked up by 12 pm so next time you want to order a cake say you want it for 11 am but as I stated in the beginning I didn't order the cake I am just picking up for them and proceeds with just for the next time order it for the time you know your gonna come and it will be ready. My response to him was I will never be back due to the poor experience I had here and it was my first time. I had a lot of people to tell me how good the baked goods were but with the way they treat people I will never go back. The cake I picked up was a Tres leches cake with Strawberries and the cake was dry and tasted like the cake had been sitting for days. I don't recommend this place at all. I have had better...
