Pearsall's Station is my absolute favorite dine in casual restaurant. I have been a customer for at least 15 years. At one point I dined there at least once a week for dinner on a Saturday or Sunday night. They have a bar area and a restaurant area. I am only reviewing the restaurant area.
There are booths that look like olde time railroad cars in beautiful dark wood along one side of the restaurant. Those are my favorite - so big and comfy! Always a treat to get to sit seat in one of them for dinner. I think they extend from the front of the restaurant in the bar area to the back dining area along one wall, but I always have waited for seating in the restaurant area. There is also a seating area with tables and chairs in the back half of the space. It is usually packed on a weekend night. There has sometimes been a wait, but never so long that deterred me. I usually hang out newr the back door when I wait rather than in the middle by the host desk. Sometimes it feels a bit crowded if you are at a two seater table in the dining area, but it is worth it. They have great tvs so you can watch your favorite games. During the holidays they have pretty decorations hanging.
I say it is my favorite for their food. I have been enjoying the Pecan Picasso salad, Freedom Dip sandwich, french onion soup, burgers and from the Forgotten Railroad specialities - mac & cheese crock, sauerbraten, shepards pie and chicken pot pie for years. I hope they never take these off of the menu. I think their meals are large and because it is so good I tend to order a bunch of things on the menu when I go. Once many years ago they also had a "blue snapper" dinner special one evening that was wonderful. I've never been able to find that anywhere else ever again since. The shepards pie is a mainstay and has a wonderful seasoned flavor and their french onion soup is just the best I've ever had. I always have enough shepards pie to take some home for a second meal.
The staff has always been friendly to me and the restaurant has a comfy feel to me. I...
Read moreHorrible place. Don't go to this place, unless you wanna be harassed by aggressive drunks and then told to leave by the manager (without even doing anything wrong). Was gonna grab a few bites and drinks one Sunday afternoon while waiting a half hour to take the next train from the nearby Lynbrook station to a job I was doing that day. My phone was dead, and I asked the manager if I can use his charger. He let me use it, but after maybe 2 minutes of charging my phone, looking at the menu, and minding my own business, a couple of drunk people started harassing me. I couldn't tell what they were saying, and I didn't answer because they were obviously very drunk. They did this for about 5 to 10 minutes straight without me responding, and then they started getting really hostile and threatening me. Without saying a word to them, I politely asked the manager behind the counter to tell them to stop harassing me. The manager then comes over to me, walks me to the back exit, and says "they're drunk, you don't wanna deal with them. It's best you leave." Instead of doing the right thing and telling his drunk patrons to stop acting aggressive, go home, or call the police on them, he walks me out the back exit and tells me to leave. This place needs to loose their liquor license ASAP!! I couldn't a police report at the moment, because was still dead, I was in an urgent rush to get to work on time (yes, on a Sunday afternoon), and by the time I gotc5o work, I had too many important things to deal with. Don't go to this place, unless you wanna be harassed by aggressive drunks and then told to leave by the manager (without even doing...
Read moreI've passed by this restaurant several times before taking the opportunity to dine in. The atmosphere is very comfortable - upscale pub! I had to wait for my friend. I sat at the bar and received a warm greeting from the bartender. I loved the fact that most of the people were from the local area. The gentleman who seated us was kind enough to take our drink order, while we waited for our server to meet and greet us. We started off with an amazing appetizer of fried calamari. Not only was the portion huge.. the calamari was perfectly fried. Our entrees were amazing. My friend ordered Yagestizel with potato pancakes, apple sauce, and red cabbage. I ordered the jambalaya... nice and spicy. The portions were so huge that we were able to take home what we couldn't finish. I was so impressed when meeting the owner, Brian. He made time to visit with all his diners. The staff surprised me by singing happy birthday when our server brought out our dessert. My friend had dined here previously. She knew that I love discovering local restaurants that have good service, great food, and a great local vibe. I'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Bravo Brian and...
