Pollo Campero — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Came here based on a recommendation. The chicken is juicy. Even in a classic chicken sandwich with nothing on it - literally just the chicken between the bun, it was juicy. The yuca fries is a must. The Mac and cheese is very creamy, but few bites in started to taste salty. Good thing the family meal came with 2 drinks. I tried the hibiscus drink and the peach/nectarine drink. If you like mango flavor, go with the peach/nectarine. If you like slightly tart, go with the hibiscus. The plantains taste like plantains; nothing special. The buns taste like Hawaiian rolls. It’s unfortunate the chicken only comes in thighs and legs. No breasts. You can order it grilled or fried. Opted for fried. Compared to larger chicken franchises like Popeyes or KFC, Pollo Campero does not offer mashed potatoes or gravy. They do come with Campero rice, beans, Cole slaw, and sweet potato fries, which I didn’t get. I ordered one empanada to try. It’s pancake flat, which I’m not used to eating after trying other empanada spots, but maybe it’s a cultural thing? A family meal with one empanada and just a sandwich cost around $62. Last night I had placed an order online and when I went to pick it up I had to wait an additional 20 minutes to receive it. While waiting I noticed the staff very disorganized multiple people complaining on why its was taking forever to get their food another customer came in complaining about having the wrong order and I also observed the manager I believe serving fries in soda cups on the to go orders. The amount of times I had to ask for how much longer is incredible. I honestly do not mind waiting but the way they work under pressure is disappointing. I would have given a higher rating but the fact that My order was wrong (I understand it was busy) When I came back in to let them know my order was wrong and under cooked(I left the place and got in my car) the young man was explained and I guess the manger was told. After checking and taking back my old order I am guessing the manger put the chicken back for resale! I said again "I walked out with this order and you put it back in the bin to be resold?" I even tried contacting their main office to complain and still no reply back. YOU DO NOT PUT FOOD BACK...
