I do NOT write how much I love or hate a store … EVER. But I had to post a comment on this store and the multiple employees I have dealt with. I don’t normally do major house projects but I recently had to have major renovation. My contractor left me the task of buying ALL materials during the project (mistake that I allowed because he happened to be family of my close friend). I went to Home Depot over the 7-8 week project probably about 2 dozen (12) times within that time span.
With that, I went through project HELL. I HATE personal construction. I am a mechanical engineer and do project management for a living. This project by far was the worst.
The customer service department, as a whole, were the saving grace of my experience, along with employees from the floor (plumbing, electrical, flooring, paint, lumber, wall, etc.) Aside from one or two individuals, everyone as a whole were more than willing to help with good knowledge of whatever I was looking for.
I wish I can give credit to everyone but unfortunately I was not able to introduce myself to certain individuals and could not get their names. But THANK YOU to:
ALBERTHA in Customer Services - of all. Thank you for your diligence and patience. She is a wonderful person, cool and collected, who helped me and is a great character and personality to be around. There was an issue with my online purchase. She guided me and went above and beyond her duty trying to make sure I left there with everything good to go. She had extreme patience and I hope anyone who goes there to meet and acknowledge her hard work.
CUSTOMER SERVICE – to ALL the ladies and gentlemen who either recognized or helped me personally. You all helped keep my sanity. Thank you.
EDWARD – a regular face I would see who also helped me with services and helped me through any issues I had. You don’t get your face on the employee of the month wall if you’re not good people. ED … you are good people. Thanks for your help.
To the little boss lady and guy from appliances, thank you for your help with my issues with the delivery of my new washing machine.
To the guys that helped me load plywood, flooring, or drywall onto my SUV numerous times … Thank you. (As opposed to one kid whose nose was n his cell phone who was asked to help but I saw dodging to the parking lot later on as one of the other guys helped me load my car… classy)
To the older gentleman, the young dude, and young lady from the PAINT department, thank you for your help in helping me find the right stuff
To the guy who helped me find the right moldings and also happened to help me on another occasion finding the right brass pipe fitting in another aisle … thanks for knowing the tricks of many trades.
As a whole the staff is very knowledgeable. For those who disagree, PLEASE just talk to these people and pick their brains. They made a nightmare of project actually pleasing once it was finished and I just wanted to show my APPRECIATION for them. Aside from one or two individuals who obviously aren’t up the general staff, these people know enough to make your experience worthwhile.
Thanks again...
Read moreThe incompetence and lack of effort by the management here is frightening. I truly wish I made this story up: My roommates and I placed an order for a couch on March 1st to be shipped to Hempstead for pick up. We were given an ETA of about 2 weeks. The date came, and we didn't receive an email that our order was ready. A few more days go by, maybe a week. My roommate calls the store because we haven't heard anything about the couch. They told my roommate that it never arrived and that the manager would give him a call back the following day.
He received no call back the following day. Over the course of the next few weeks, my roommate called back multiple times, was placed on hold, and was hung up on multiple times. We're now about 4-5 weeks from the date of the original order, and no one has returned our calls or given us the slightest update about the situation. My roommate finally got in touch with a worker in the warehouse who informed us that they received an incomplete shipment. He said he was sorry that no one informed us and that if we had known weeks ago, we could've placed a new order. He knocked 5% off (insulting) and reordered the couch.
About a week and a half later we get an email (I believe it was on April 10 or 11) informing us that our couch had arrived and we needed to pick it up by April 15. My roommates went to Hempstead to pick it up on April 13, and spent an hour in the store while the workers ran up and down the aisles looking for the couch. Once again, they told us that they didn't have our couch. It is now a month and a half since we originally placed the order. Again, we were told that a manager would call the following day.
And again, no manager called. My roommate was on the phone for 4 hours being put on hold and being disconnected trying to figure out what was going on. He finally got in touch with someone who told him that the Hempstead location mistakenly shipped our new couch back to the manufacturer. They offered to order us the couch once more, and my roommate begrudgingly agreed. The next day they called us back and told us that the couch was out of stock so we asked for our money back. They immediately told us that the couch was released to us and wouldn't give us the money back--another few hours of frustration before my roommate finally got them to refund us.
Not once did anyone in the store try to make this right. No other discount, no store credit, barely so much as an apology--just hours of hold times, phone call hang ups, and unreturned calls. A month and a half later and we still have no couch because this store actively ignored us. Even for a review this long, it does no justice to how awful the entire situation actually was and how neglectful and careless the...
