Cravings called for sushi on a Friday afternoon. (In hindsight, maybe not the best of idea to have raw fish on a hot sweltering day) Went into an empty restaurant and promptly greeted. Ordered the sushi lunch special which came with small salad and miso soup. The salad was cold and refreshing on a day like today. The miso soup also was good, with added bits of bean sprouts, which I've never had in miso soup before. The sushi came with six tiny rolls with tuna and it was fair. The seaweed taste was perfect. The 7 pieces of sushi was nothing I'd remember. If at all, it tasted fishy, which usually means it's not fresh. Deduct two stars for that. The other star was deducted because of sticky floors. I hate sticky floors.

It's still amazing! It's a destination stop every time we are in Long Island! I simply cannot rate Sushi Ya Garden City highly enough. We live in Delaware and it is our favorite sushi place because nothing in Delaware measures up. Kelly and Eric the owners are fantastic, and everything they make is devine. The quality and selection of sushi and sashimi is outstanding. The little touches like fresh wasabi (as opposed to the usual little green ball) are excellent. The pineapple fried rice served in a half pineapple shell are to die for. Hibachi is available. Simply in ambiance, service, and quality there is simply no place that is better. Give yourself a treat and spend some time here.

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying lunch with a coworker at Sushi Ya, and I have to say, it was a fantastic meal! We had a selection of small plates, and I highly recommend the fried softshell crab—lightly salted and perfectly fried. It was a great way to kick things off. One of my favorites was the Tricolor Tataki. All of the fish was super fresh and delicious. The service was excellent, our server was attentive but not intrusive, and they made sure our drinks were always full. We also appreciated how quickly our food arrived, even during the lunch rush. Overall, I had a wonderful time, great meal and would recommend to anyone for lunch or dinner.

The food was not good. The sushi was not fresh and there is a slight odor when you enter the restaurant. We ordered a salad, clear soup, fried oysters, 1 avocado cucumber roll, 1 sweet potato roll, 1 spicy tuna, and 1 shrimp tempura roll. Tempura rolls were not warm (which leads me to believe they must've had the fried tempura pieces premade and sitting down all day). Instead of spicy tuna we were served spicy salmon and told that's what we order (which isn't what my friend ordered). Fried oysters tasted like oil and air. Fried onion pieces that were offered were stale and chewy opposed to being crunchy. While eating my friend continued to express how hungry she was because the food was so bad and unsatisfying. We asked for a couple of things to be taken off the bill (salad and fried oysters), paid, and went next door to Kaji Sushi and Lounge where we had a much better experience. Everything was better there even the spicy mayo. I literally danced while I was eating my...

I’m new to the neighborhood and was looking for a good sushi restaurant. I saw Sushi Ya had good reviews, so I decided to give them a try. I ordered via Uber Eats, where Sushi Ya uses their own staff as drivers. The delivery guy was EXTREMELY rude... he banged on my door instead of ringing the doorbell. I opened the door, he gestured towards the bag he left on the floor. I said okay and waited for him to walk away before I opened my door... he gestured again angrily. I asked for the food to be left at my doorstep because I didn’t want to interact with the delivery person, I have no idea why he was so upset. As for the sushi itself - it was nothing special. Maybe in house the food and service is much better. But delivery wasn’t worth...

We arrived at 9:30 on a Monday night, just before the 10 pm closing time, seeking a quick bite. Despite finishing by 10:06 pm, the experience was disappointing. Our order included two rainbow rolls and a specialty roll with mango, and unfortunately, the sushi fell below the standards of even gas station or grocery store sushi. This stands as the worst sushi experience I've had on Long Island – the rolls were poorly made, dry, and tasted horrible. The subpar quality, especially given the price, has led me to decide i will never come back here again. I strongly advise against choosing this place for sushi; opting for grocery store sushi would likely yield a better experience. This establishment doesn't deserve...
