Sydney's Sweets — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

They were extremely unprofessional. Made me discuss the cake with them via text and then just wanted $ before even asking what type of cake or filling I wanted. I sent a picture of the exact cake I wanted and described the writing on it. Charged $200 for a cake that didn’t have the proper writing, flowers, and was way too small. When I contacted them about it they didn’t even have the courtesy to respond. Extremely disappointed because I used them a few years ago and they were great but it seems things have really gone down hill and the way they wanted $ before even asking about the cake I can only assume they might be going out of business.

UPDATE: Sydney’s must’ve seen this review and sent a very unprofessional text message attempting to claim that I requested pink flowers. If they had scrolled in the conversation they would’ve seen I did in fact change to white. When I brought this to their attention they once again stopped answering. They never acknowledged that they completely forgot my daughters name, flowers, and size of the cake. Their response below is completely false, I gave them ample opportunity apologize/make it right and they still have not attempted even once. If you plan to use them please really stay on top of them or your order will be completely neglected and they will blame you, the customer, instead of apologizing and owning their mistakes. Plenty of comparable or better bakeries in the area with much better prices that will actually care about their...

From beginning to end my experience with Sydney's Sweets was flawless. I contracted them for my 34th "Paris" themed birthday party. Upon arrival at the bakery I was greeted with professional welcoming attitudes from the Owners and felt confident that this was a place I wouldn't mind spending my money. I came with the theme and they immediately started throwing around ideas of how I could set up my dessert table. This was extremely helpful because I actually had no idea what I wanted lol, all I knew was that it had to taste good. They offered me samples and I ultimately decided on the red velvet and carrot cake (both AWESOME and moist). The process went smooth and by the time I left I had an order for a custom cake, cupcakes and cookies. On the day of the party, they arrived to venue before time and the delivery went off without a hitch. Everyone at the party raved over the desserts, especially how cute the cookies were. I am almost embarrassed about my delay in writing this review but I am writing it anyway. The cake for my 60th birthday celebration was made by Sydney's Sweets. Jermaine met with me upon my arrival and discussed my needs, desires, colors and theme for the celebration which was "60 never looked this good". I confidently put everything in their hands and was in awe when I actually saw the cake that was delivered and setup at the venue. The cake looked better than I could have ever imagined and was reasonable priced. It was beautiful. The birthday celebration was 3 years ago and people are still talking about the cake. Jermaine and Sydney were the nicest business people I have encountered in awhile. They were patient, knowledgeable while still remaining professional. They are an awesome duo and I would highly recommend Sydney's Bakery to anyone looking for their bakery...
