Tropix on the Bayou — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

This is just a place to sip drinks and enjoy the outdoor seating. Hard pass on the food. Except maybe a jumbo pretzel. That was ok. Caesar salad was actually about a quarter cup caesar dressing with some lettuce and a few teeny croutons…it was drenched in dressing…inedible….burger, chicken tacos, fries (pieces of lint on several fries) and mozzarella sticks were all meh. Absolutely nothing good enough to total 90.00….dirty silverware too. They also impose a 4.45 or 4.95 “tech charge” on your bill which I gather is for paying with a card vs cash. No mention of such on menu. Had we known we would have paid cash. We were too annoyed with the horrible meal to bother inquiring so we just paid and unfortunately took the 5.00 from the 20.00 tip we planned on leaving. The waitress was lovely…the highlight actually…but there was no way we could leave her 20.00 after that charge. We already wasted money on the food and didn't bother to complain or ask to have the nasty salad removed and she didn’t offer so thats that. Waitresses should give a heads up about that charge because there is a high probability it will short their tip. Anyways…go for the drinks and...

I was very disappointed with the service here and the food didn't make the experience any better. We were seated right away which was fine and the ambiance of the restaurant was good however our waitress seemed out of it. She asked what we wanted and kept interrupting us as we were placing the order and spilled half of our appetizer which she brought another half order no charge. My food was not good. I had the fish and chips and it wasn't fully cooked. My husband had the lobster roll which was ok but lackluster with the wilted lettuce they put as decoration. We asked for to go boxes and the waitress spent a minute telling us there were 2 they're just hard to see but she only brought 1 box and we asked for a bag and she gave us some story that they didn't have any. I saw the table next to us ask for a bag and got one Went to the hostess and asked for a bag and got one. I don't think we will...

First off the Service was horrible waited over a 1/2 hour to get 2 drinks and my order to be taken 74 bucks for 2 drinks a cheeseburger and side of mozzarella sticks.. lets not forget being there almost 2 hours and seen the Waiter I think 3 times felt felt like i was in east New York. Waiter had his hat so low I couldn't see his eyes boots hanging off his feet like he just got out of prison the other half of the place didn't speak English.. good job !!
