I want to start off by saying that this has nothing to do with the food as everything I have ever eaten from Umberto’s over the last 20 years has been fantastic. This does however speak to customer service or lack there of. My wife and I live in Mineola and placed a delivery order through seamless for apps, and entree and a few slices of pizza. We received the wrong order which consisted of 5 different pizza pies. When we called the restaurant, the young lady that answered the phone was not only rude, but she had no clue of what we were even speaking about. My wife clearly explained that we received the order for a person named Diana(my wife’s name is Diane and the order was placed by her, for context) the girl kept saying “yes, Diana, your pizza is leaving shortly. Then she corrected herself by saying oh wait, you ordered the hero’s. We said no, this is who we are, here is our order number and our order. She had no idea of what to do. So after 10 mins of going back and forth she said well we do t deliver to Mineola so you will have to call seamless and have their driver come pick this up. That is not how seamless works since the order was already marked as delivered.(We did reach out to seamless and explained what happened as well. They refunded the order.) But we also asked the girl to please speak with a manager so that we can maybe actually get our dinner delivered and resolved. She put us on hold where we waited for no less than 15 mins and no one ever picked up the phone again. That was when we contacted seamless. Then, after 90 mins, someone named Joe calls my wife to say “hi your food has been ready for 90 k mins, are you coming to get it?) we were flabbergasted, we told Joe what happened and he was absolutely clueless to the entire situation. He was very nice and apologetic but honestly, it didn’t help at all at that point. So, we ended up ordering dinner from a different place all together. I just wanted to write this in hopes that maybe someone from Umbertos sees this and does something to improve. We will never go to any of their locations again though. So thank you for the good food for the last 20 years but for me, with the higher cost of everything these days, good customer service is paramount if you want my business. Read moreI really wanted to like this place. My son and I started going here after his games. We went only a couple of times and we really enjoyed the pizza. I tried the sausage roll one time and unfortunately that was pretty bad, it was very soggy and not too tasty.
I'm giving a negative review because of the service. The guy with the curly hair was not that pleasant to begin with, not that big of a deal, but more than that I'm confident that he hooked me for $10. The total was $24.75, I handed him $40 and he gave me back $5.25 in change. The reason I didn't confront him was because I was in the middle of a happy conversation with my son about his accomplishments. I didn't even want to bother bickering with someone who either can't count or is trying to rip me off. I'm pretty certain because I looked at my bills before I handed it to him, I returned from the ATM where they dispensed only $20's to me ($100 total). I was more amazed that he would do that, I knew right away, and he sheepishly looked at me while I waited for my pizza. I'd rather go this route than go back and forth with a stranger in front of my kid.
I'll admit the pizza is very good (rolls maybe not). Please double check your bill, your change and stay alert if you go here. To the owner, hopefully you can get some good staff ( a smile, basic counting skills) in there so your pizza can shine. Read moreI wasn’t going to blast them online, however, I can’t hold back anymore. We have been ordering from Umbertos of Bellmore for about 3 years now and we haven’t had too many problems along the way. Until now, last week I put in a big $130 order for delivery. I had the girl on the phone repeat back to me all the items. I even had her repeat one of the items twice just because that was for someone who needed to eat in a timely manner due to health reasons. Just to my dismay, the one part of the order that was left out of the delivery was her food! When I called the restaurant back I asked to speak to the owner. When he got on the phone he already sounded dejected to have to speak to me. After a while of going back and forth about the order, he says to me verbatim “you are lucky we are even delivering food to you”. This was after I explained to him I understand the circumstances and that I am a healthcare worker and know things are crazy right now. In the end he offered to send me that same item on the house next time we order. Ok, not a bad gesture. How about today (a week later) I called back and tried to put in another order for delivery. After screening my phone number the girl on the phone tells me they are not excepting any new orders. It’s 7pm!!! You aren’t taking new orders during dinner time!?!? This establishment is an utter disgrace and I hope this review sees all the neighbors in the area.
