I contacted MacGregor’s in early March 2024 to coordinate a Bachelorette Party at the Henrietta location for 25 people on April 13th. The individual I was speaking to suddenly stopped responding to emails. This prompted me to call the restaurant at which time, they told me this individual had been fired and they would put me in contact with the “owner” named Chris. Chris called me and we had a wonderful conversation in which he apologized for the miscommunication and informed me we had ordered far too much food for $25 people. I was very happy because it cut the cost of the party in half. I asked if I could give him a credit card number because per the online menu, a $100 down deposit was due. Chris said no because he’s “never had anyone stand me up before. I trust you”. I expressed my thanks and said look forward to seeing you on April 13th. He again assured me everything would be ready for us when we arrived. Come April 13th, we showed up and there was no food. In addition to there being no food, the hostesses said they didn’t know we were even coming. They called the Greece location and said they didn’t have any information about us either so it wasn’t just a mix up of locations. At this point they started to get extra snarky with us and giving us dirty looks. They refused to even accommodate us telling us they didn’t have a full staff so they wouldn’t be able to seat us all at the same time and it would be a long wait for 25 people. I called Chris who answered and pretended like he didn’t know what I was talking about. He said “let me make a phone call and I’ll call you right back”. Here we are in October and I have yet to hear back from Chris. We decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. I am extremely grateful that Chris did not take any of my money because I have a feeling I would not have gotten it back.
In addition to our catering order getting so lost no one knew anything about it, I have never felt so unwelcome in my entire life by both the staff and other patrons. With it being a bachelorette party for lesbians, of course we had rainbows galore. We expected to catch some looks but not the glaring stares that gave off the feeling of contempt. At one point I thought the hostess was even trying to hide a laugh. The whole encounter felt so disrespectful. I will likely never return to MacGreggors and I sincerely hope they treat other customers better no matter what their sexual...
Read moreTo be honest, I'm speechless regarding their customer service and management. To be disclosed, I am deaf, and I was very familiar with this place as deaf/hard of hearing students/staff/ alumni love going to this place. Unfortunately, the quality of management and service had significantly declined. The bar had to close two hours EARLY than the scheduled hours (closed at midnight on Saturday). One of my hard-of-hearing friends told me that they screamed at us with the hope of us understanding what they said. Umm, we couldn't hear what they said. We didn't expect to leave early due to the typically scheduled hour. I asked the tall female server with dark hair why we had to leave earlier, and all she said was she wanted to go home.
I was appalled by her response. I looked for an on-duty manager to find out the real reason. Oh lord, have mercy; the female manager was not any better. I tried to understand what had gone on. The manager tried to defend her coworker, which was understandable. However, her approach was also unacceptable. She tried to push the loyal patrons out. She kept saying she wanted to tell us they were closing by lighting up. Again, we were confused with their "light" arrangement because of the contradicted schedule. She didn't even make an effort to communicate with us that they were closing for whatever reason they had. The old management would let us know why we needed to go. The current management kept us in the dark. I asked for her name, and her name was Amy/Aimee.
I have been going to the Macs since 2000, and I have to say what we have known is GONE. The hospitality, the warmth, the sense of community, college town, etc., were thrown out of the window. The "new era" manager/server will not give a damn about you but your money, unfortunately. This business does not deserve your...
Read moreUPDATE:: The OWNER himself decided instead of handling it like a business owner, he decided to “ban” me from entering this restaurant for “leaving this review on google” Unfortunately this comment is not intended for the bartenders as they are nothing but great! But the owner on the other hand is a very incompetent owner. The first time I came into this establishment, my truck was vandalized by chicken fingers and sauce, and I let it go and took my truck to the car wash. The second incident was a theft of my coat late night at the bar, with not many people left hanging out in the place. After a couple of days, stopping in and talking to managers, whom could not help me, nor had any access to the cameras; I finally stopped in when the owner was there. He insisted that it could not have been stolen, it had to be a mistake, “his employees wouldn’t dare steal anything”. The owner then proceeded to tell me how none of his cameras could see my coat, which I could not believe as there were many cameras facing my coat. At the end of the conversation he told me that, “he would check the cameras and let me know”. However, he never asked for my name nor my phone number. He then proceeded to go have drinks at the bar, without checking cameras, without talking to me anymore about the incident. This is the kind of reaction I would expect to receive from an inexperienced employee, not a manager nor an owner. I will now be returning for my 4th stop back, however I will be having the police meet me there. If you go to this poorly owned establishment, please watch your vehicles, and keep your belongings on a string. My group of work guys spend a few hundred dollars a week at this establishment, and it is a crappy way to lose...
