THE THEATRICAL RELEASE... We have enjoyed Osaka Sushi at their Chili Ave location for years, so we are very happy they opened in Henrietta as well. As much as I love all things Asian food sushi is my favorite by far!
Overall the food that is served at Osaka Sushi, either location, is wonderful. It is always fresh and of course made to order. This is a restaurant that is made to take your time in, to sit with family and friends and enjoy one anothers company as you share wonderful food. If you want to enjoy the company of others over delectable bites of heaven then this is the place for you.
THE DIRECTOR'S CUT... The Henrietta location serves lunch from 11:00 am until 3:30 pm Monday thru Saturday. Dinner starts at 3:30 pm until close, Sunday thru Thursday 10:00 pm and Friday and Saturday 11:00pm. Dinner is served all day Sunday from 11:00 am to close at 10:00 pm. Their lunch prices for adults are $13.95, sorry but I am not sure what the adult dinner prices are. Oh yes and did I mention that it is all you can eat, how can you beat that?!
We arrived on a Saturday at about 11:30 am, they open at 11:00 am everyday, and there were a few college age people enjoying their lunches, maybe 10. By the time it was a little after 12:00 pm the restaurant was full and they had people waiting. I would suggest getting there as close to open as possible or waiting a little later during lunch so you don't have to wait. This is more of a sit down and take your time restaurant, it isn't a pop in for a quick bite to eat type of place.
Our server was very friendly and willing to answer any questions that we had. She was very attentive commiserate with how busy they were, they were full about 20 to 30 minutes after we arrived. Our drinks were never empty and she would always check on her way around to see if we needed anything. Once we finished our order she was ready for a new order and put it in promptly on her tablet. Looking at other tables and observing their servers I would say that they were all very attentive to their guests as well. I dare say other restaurants could learn a thing or two from the servers at Osaka, just sayin'.
We have never had a bad meal at either of the Osaka locations. This was the first time dining at the new restaurant in Henrietta, it is beautiful. The restaurant is very nice with an open concept sushi kitchen, same as the Chili location. It is nice to see your sushi being made right in front of you, lets you know it is fresh. The sushi chefs are quick and very good at what they do. At the peak of lunch they had about five or six sushi chefs working on orders. All the sushi that we, my husband and I, ordered was brought out fresh and presented very professionally. The fish there has always been fresh. Whether it is hand rolls, maki rolls, tempura battered items, sushi rolls, nigiri, etc. everything at Osaka is great.
I am a nut for seaweed salad and theirs, at either location, is the best by far. Their dressing has the perfect balance of sesame oil to vinegar to sugar. Most other places I find they are to heavy on oil or vinegar. The seaweed is crunchy and so fresh tasting one would think they just pulled it from the ocean that morning. My second love in the sushi world is tied between eel and salmon skin, theirs is out of this world. Whether the salmon skin is crispy or not the flavor is so rich and the eel is so delicate and delicious, wow just writing about it makes my mouth start to water.
Another favorite of mine is Gyoza dumplings and theirs are so delightful. They are crispy pillows of wanton wrapped around a delicious filling of pork and cabbage served with a warm soy dipping sauce. These are a must try item in my opinion. You don't find many Asian restaurants that serve these dumplings but when I have had Gyozas at other restaurants that can't hold a candle to these.

Read moreI love restaurants with ample parking especially in winter. If there's no parking there's no tables - keeps it simple. This location is also super wheelchair accessible as the entrance and entire restaurant including restrooms is completely level with the outdoor parking lot.
The employees are all super friendly and courteous and keep the entire place very clean (and I'm picky). If you ask them for water with no ice or straw they will actually bring it to you without ice or a straw! Even when the place is busy they do an excellent job serving and checking on all the tables in a timely manner. Did I mention the tables are grouped with dividers so there is some privacy from other diners? Great place for a working lunch.
Music varies yet is usually pop of some sort. The atmosphere is pretty relaxing and they did a great job with the interior design & decor.
I mostly go for the unlimited sushi and I Iove raw fish so go for dinner(can order sashimi & better rolls vs lunch menu) yet can say all of the cooked items I have tried are great. The sushi rice is well seasoned and warm. The sushi fish is fresh and everything is good quality. I say good quality because I've had better yet what would you expect for a truly all-you-can-eat sushi joint for less than $30/person not located near the ocean?? Get a bottle of warm sake and you'll leave full and ready for a nap.
I recommend to ask for a list of the rolls unless you know what to order and to avoid ordering rolls that are deep-fried or have crispies as they tend to be heavy on the rice/crispies. Since it's unlimited you either are expected to eat everything you order or will be charged extra to take it home so choose wisely and don't go crazy & order willy-nilly unless you know what you're doing and you know what you're getting.
The heavy-on-rice deal, plastic dishes and cheaper chopsticks (joined together) are the only downfalls in my book yet the price, friendliness and superb customer service of the staff makes up for it. Oh and did I mention the place is SUPER clean? Once you figure out what to order it's great and you can always bring your own chopsticks.
I recommend/My personal tips:
Go with a few friends and share the rolls! That way you can each try 1 piece of something instead of committing to an entire roll you don't know. (Rolls are 4-6 pieces yet rolls can be thick. Deep-fried rolls aren't bad you just won't want more than 1) Try mackerel sashimi dipped in the tempura dipping sauce - the light sweetness goes great with the saltiness of the fish White tuna for sashimi is way better than in sushi Order a combo of sashimi/sushi for a better protein/carb/fat ratio If the restaurant is busy try to order a few things you know you'll want before you're done with your current choices unless you're starting to fill up. This is the best way to have a good flow of food. Keep in mind sashimi size varies greatly...ex. if you order 2 salmon they may be a fat cube vs ordering 10 mackerel sashimi which are much thinner.
TIP WELL,...
Read moreEDITED SAME NIGHT; PLEASE READ BOTTOM FOR UPDATE Be wary of All You Can Eat weekend dinner service. I took my mom, sister, and best friend here for the All You Can Eat because me and my best friend had been before and it was fantastic. We always came before during the week in the early evening because it fit our schedule, but due to time constraints this time we came on a Friday evening at 6pm. We were quick to be seated, got our drinks order in and that took just a few short minutes. We put in our first food order and it took nearly 20 minutes before we received our green salad, seaweed salad, and two pieces of nigiri (cold sushi). The female server set the food down quickly and left just as swiftly before we could ask about the other food items we had ordered. Another 15 minutes and we received another part of the food we'd ordered (calamari, shrimp skewers, and only 1 of 3 takoyaki we'd originally ordered). We managed to snag our server as she sat 2 more tables in her section to order some more food, hoping that ordering it early would help, but to no avail, the wait was just as gruelling. Out of all the food we'd ordered across being there for 2 and a half hours, we had barely received half, while the tables who were sat and ordered after us continuously received their food. Our server repeated the items we ordered back to us every time, but when asked about it after waiting 20-25 minutes she couldn't seem to find our order (this happened twice). After my mom and sister got fed up with waiting and wanted to leave, I asked to talk to a manager who, granted, was helpful and took 20% off our order and let us take the last small order of food we had put in (that we had been waiting 30 minutes for) to go with us. I'm genuinely disappointed because the food is AMAZING and me and my best friend love coming here. *I feel the small female server doesn't really care too much about the patrons, and if we come back and are given her as a server again, I will politely ask for another. Based on other reviews I can concur that the wait times are egregious on the weekend evenings, at least on Fridays. EDIT: We got home and sat down to eat the take-home sushi and specifically my 2 pieces of Nigiri had big smears of wasabi on the bottom of each piece, which I didn't notice until I had split a piece in half and shared it with my 11-year old brother. The ice cream they had put into containers, were put in the bottom of the bag and noticed when I took the other food out that they weren't closed all the way and the ice cream had melted and spilled all over and soaked the bag. An incredible act of pettiness that was completely unnecessary. I won't...
