1 star because the bread was still tasty (however, it was also bite-sized - very unusually tiny, as anyone who's been before knows) and an additional courtesy star because I really hope it was just an oddball off night for everyone there.
I routinely go to Texas Roadhouse wherever I travel because I KNOW happy, friendly, accurate service and consistently well prepared food await me there. I'll continue to do so. Just not in this town.
I've eaten an embarrassing number of meals at Texas Roadhouses in several cities across 3 states. This visit is an extreme outlier. Only one single other time was a cooking error made and it was made right and with sincere apologies made by staff that seemed genuinely more unhappy about it than I was. Never in my many visits to many other locations have I had an experience that didn't feel abundantly welcoming and customer-focused in a big way. Until now.
Steak came out over cooked - the person who delivered it agreed with my statement without hesitation. I declined a new steak but asked for a decent discount instead, because I was tired and hungry after a long day of travel and just wanted to eat. Nobody ever stopped by or asked me about it after that.
The bill came with a 10% "local hero" discount. I presume because I was wearing my work shirt from my fire department. I asked about the discount and the manager told me she didn't want to take off the whole thing because she saw I was eating it. (I say I took one for your inventory's team and only ate it because I was tired and hungry enough to not want to wait)
Bill came back with a more reasonable discount, but the original 10% discount had been removed. Probably just because it didn't matter in the end, but still felt like an insult for some reason.
I'm pretty sure I was given the wrong beer, but again, too tired to complain.
Was not provided small plate and silverware - ended up using an unopened set that was already nearby at the bar.
When other patrons complained about issues with their meal, server made it about themself and the hard night they were having. No apolgies, no effort to "make it right".
Watched/overheard at least 3 other errors occur, not all were the fault of any single person, so it wasn't just one person having a bad day.
Here's to hoping this is just an anomaly and I simply showed up on the wrong day.
photos are of "medium rare" steak and juices (read: none) left behind after. Captions didn't...
Read moreHere's a couple of things I wish I had known before my husband and his siblings went for dinner last night. We all ordered the prime rib. Some of us got onions/mushrooms/cheese on top - I got mine without toppings. Three of us ordered it medium and one as medium rare. Even though we all ordered the 16 oz size (we like leftovers) the sizes and thicknesses varied greatly. Here's my tip. Unless you order it medium rare, (which is how they roast it) they will take your portion, SLATHER IT IN '"STEAK SEASONING" - also known as SALT) and put it on a griddle to continue cooking it. This is not a theory; this was explained to us by the server. You end up with a salty exterior rind which is inedible. Likewise for the baked potato. The menu tells you they do cover the outside with bacon fat which supposedly cooks away but all I could taste was SALT. My husband's portion was, well, disgusting. He is not a picky eater and we love a good fatty rib eye so the fat on the prime rib was not an issue. But a large portion of his slice was - in the words of the server- connective tissue. My husband was unable to continue eating it. To their credit the server offered and did bring my husband an entirely new portion, which he asked to be medium rare this time and which was delicious. At $28 dollars a meal, it was the right thing to do and the main reason I have given them 4 stars. And yes, their rolls and cinnamon butter are fabulous. Hope...

The warm bread is always a highlight with cinnamon butter, no doubt a draw all by itself!
The service was unprecedented! Thank you to Michelle in Henrietta NY, absolutely attentive to everything and her timing impeccable!
She always checked on us, refilled drinks, brought more bread and checked our needs! Some of the best server attitude I have experienced in a while.
The steak was small for what we paid. But cooked very well, and seasoned perfectly.
Baked potatoes had the right taste and toppings. Although the cost to amount of toppings ratio was lacking quite a bit.
Corn comes from a giant can, easily and is not really a prepared item. Broccoli is frozen, not fresh and is definitely not prepared either.
We had the cactus blossom, good flavor, good seasonings, a little clumpy at spots with flour so a little blah for presentation and a mouthful of uncooked powder.
Not the greatest value unless you are into bread and free refills of soda.
Comfortably around $19-28 per person. While the value to portions is lower, our visit was definitely improved by the attention our server gave us.
Overall food -7-8 Service - 10+ (Michelle( Value for a family of 4 - 4 to 5.
Sorry Roadhouse, the value of the meal doesn't match hype. Great flavors for steak and potatoes, great burgers, great service. The loud "gulp" was for the prices, not the...
