Called at 0848, reserved hibachi for four, 1800. Simonās called back at 1541, to confirm our table. Was told 1800 was no problem, we were good to go. But we werenāt.
Showed up 1745, ordered drink at bar. Wine (house cab. sauv.) was oxidized. The bartender said she thought it had been opened a while and gladly opened a new bottle; new glass was great. Good thing too, because it was to be the last drink Iād have for a while. We were seated at our hibachi table at 1843. I nursed the glass of wine for over an hour before the waitress at the table inquired into next drinks. Our counterpart family at the table hadnāt even received their waters. Follow up drinks came separately, waitress needed to be reminded several times. Took three reminders for other familyās coffees. Waitress unapologetic. Soup and salad didnāt come out till after 1930. The soup had ONE piece of mushroom in it, the salad had ONE small piece of tomato and cucumber. Iceberg lettuce was just beginning to brown. The hibachi cook was the only good part about the evening. He was great, very entertaining, and the food was good. However, we received zero water refills or orders for follow up drinks. It was not busy for a Tuesday night. At check out, it took them 3 failed tries to get us correct bills. We ended up handwriting our orders for them to put into the computer. Overall, food was great, literally everything else was terrible. Cherry on top, my pregnant wife shouldnāt be responsible to track down toilet paper.
Weāve visited several times in the past. Unfortunately, each time has been increasingly worse. Weāll stick to Thai 119...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time visiting Simon's was not a great experience. Called 5 days ahead of time for reservations and had reservations for 7 at 530pm. We waited until 615pm to be seated and until 640 for the first bit of food to arive. (Soup and salad) My miso soup was mildly warm and only contained 3 mushrooms. The salad left much to be desired with one measly slice of tomato and some lettuce in a mild cream dressing. For my main hibachi I ordered the Kobe combo with filet, scallops, and shrimp. The filet was very good with nice texture and flavor. The shrimp was very good also. The hibachi chef accidentally served my scallops to another dinner and had to get fresh scallops from the kitchen which he proceeded to rush on the grill cutting them up into tiny pieces to accelerate the cooking process which i was highly disappointed in. The waiter never checked back during the course of the meal, leaving me and others at the table to run back and forth to the bar to get refills on drinks. After the meal was over checks were brought around without the offer of dessert ( we were dining out for a birthday party and had intended on getting dessert) we decided to skip dessert due to time constraints. There was no initial offer of a discount for the long wait time even though we had a reservation and had multiple mix-ups and poor service for the meal. We did receive a 20% discount after complaints were raised. Overall it was obvious that the restaurant was poorly staffed and improperly booked which lead to a poor dining experience. The main food dishes had good flavor, but the abysmal service overrode...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time to this restaurant and we honestly almost didn't go there based on the most recent negative reviews! I usually always check out reviews. Glad we gave it a chance! We ordered some sushi and then had our hibachi dinners. Sushi was really good & hibachi food was very good. Chicken and shrimp were NOT overcooked, rice was perfect, veggies were good. Only complaint is it could've been a little saucier with the teriyaki. So I asked for yum yum sauce, he poured me a half inch of it lol.and it wasn't the usual yum yum sauce, but it worked. Salad dressing wasn't the usual hibachi ginger dressing either, salad was just eh but we were hungry. Service from our waitress was as it should be and she was kind! I'm happy we got a spot at the hibachi grill since we didn't have a reservation, the hostess gave us a family's spot that never showed up. Since we are new customers we had no clue where to park, but short walk to what we assumed was overflow parking. Also, from the outside (daylight) you can't tell if people are inside, but it was busy when we opened the doors lol. Could use an update inside and out. I subtracted a star for skimping on sauces and could be a little cleaner. All in all we will be back! People need to realize the hibachi chefs rotate and so it won't always be consistent. And you can trust me I know good food...
