Today (Sept 2,2018/Labor Day Weekend) we drove up from Syracuse to Goodfellos to grab a bite to eat since it was an all around beautiful day. We have been visiting the Sackets Harbor area for many years whether it was taking my son fishing, grabbing lunch with my Dad and Mom, or grabbing a dinner with my wife. This past winter we also attended the Whoville celebration. Well unfortunately, the dinner experience at Goodfellos was terrible to say the least. The only good thing was we were seated quickly upon entering the restuarant and the waitress Schuyler (unknown spelling) took our drink requests as well as our order of appetizers . We were then served our drinks and appetizers within a reasonable amount of time. After that it went downhill and I mean the worst service ever. The waitress never got us water. After we finished our appetizers, our dishes sat their for approximately 30 minutes before being removed by our waitress. It should be noted that while our empty appetizer dishes sat there, our waitress walked by our table numerous times (7-8 times) without clearing our table. Besides that, every time our waitress walked by our table empty handed, she made no effort in grabbing our dirty dishes. After sitting there for approximately an hour waiting to be served our dinner and after bringing it to the attention of our waitress that we were waiting for our dinner, our waitress kept saying unfortunately you didn't order pizza and that's why you see other people being served their food before us. We then were approached by our waitress that our dinner was being plated and that we would have our dinner in a couple minutes. Fifteen minutes later and after our waitress had walked by our table a few times, we grabbed our waitress to see once again what the delay was in getting our dinner and of course she replied it's coming. We then told her to get our bill so we could pay for our drinks and appetizers at which time she handed over our bill. After paying our bill, we spoke to manager and brought our concerns about the service and the lengthy delay of getting our dinner, and he replied, that our order was placed by our waitress at 7:19 pm when in fact we arrived at the restaurant at around 6:20 pm and placed our order with our waitress at around 6:35pm. The manager was not very helpful and did not look into the matter to see why our order was placed at 7:19 pm and in no way did he apologize for the poor service and the lengthy delay of our dinner. What happen was that our waitress PROBABLY forgot to place our order and after we had brought it to her attention regarding the delay of our dinner, she placed our dinner order. The sad thing about this experience is that neither the waitress or the manager could admit to the mistake. VERY SAD. If they had came to us and said we are sorry but we forgot to place your dinner order, we would ve said no problem. I know one thing, I will be talking about this experience for a long time with family and friends and will NEVER recommend this restuarant to...
Read moreMyself and six other friends went to Goodfellos for dinner as a supper club for our friend’s birthday. Many of us have been to Goodfellos before and loved the atmosphere, food, and service which is why the birthday girl decided on this establishment for her dinner celebration with us. Our reservation was for 6:30pm, we arrived on time and got seated right away. After we met our waiter Evan and received our chosen drinks, and placed our orders for appetizers and entrees, we were being normal Moms out of the house and having a blast with friends. After a while, the manager came over very uncomfortable and told us there was a noise complaint about us. Mind you, the music and other patrons in the restaurant were loud. We asked Evan to call her back over and let her know we felt uncomfortable because we could barely hear each other and we were not being inappropriate. She agreed and said continue on, so we did. After 2 hours of waiting for our food (2 featured cods, a pizza, 2 chicken plates, a seafood pasta, and a salad) we asked our waiter Evan what was going on. He said he wasn’t sure but kept checking the kitchen and that there were big parties upstairs. We understood and thanked him for the update. After almost 2.5 hours, we got our food. The pizza immediately was wrong so we told Evan who took the pizza back and was correcting the situation. While this was going on, the two featured cod dishes did not have artichoke hearts in the dish as was expected and my steak and portobello salad not only was swimming in watered down balsamic juices, but was also not done and had chicken chunks in it. No portobello mushrooms. When Evan came back, we showed him my salad and that’s when he went to speak to the manager again but could not find her so had a bartender come talk to us. She also agreed the salad was not edible and called the owner since we were a $300 table. We had a few options but when the idea of taking $10 off each dish was proposed, I politely interrupted that I was absolutely not paying for this salad that I did not even eat. They could not comp our entire table which we understood however, gave us a $100 gift card that basically was the amount that came off our bill to use the next time we go there (which may not happen at this point). Thankfully our cake brought by a friend had saved the night and Evan got to share in that celebration piece as well. Despite the horrific night and us being at Goodfellos for almost 3 hours with myself not eating more than appetizers and a slice of pizza, Evan was absolutely amazing every step of the way. He wanted better for us, and we knew that. He made the night fun with us and easily is the best employee they have. We all probably could have cried that night but all 8 of us stuck together and embraced the suck. Goodfellos - be better. Evan - keep being...
Read moreOk. Got in late tonight, and 4 people were starving. The place we usually go to was closed. So we had to get this or McDonald's. McDonald's is straight poison. So we went here for pizza. And 42 dollars for some of the worst pizzas I've had in New york is just ridiculous. I know Sacketts harbor is a bit pricey to begin with due to the type of people it attracts. And I've paid good money for nice thick crust artesian pizza and been very satisfied. This is an outrage. This is a thin crust, not even crispy like a good NY thin crust pizza is supposed to be. So, there is no money in the dough. Asked for extra cheese, and it was the same as the pizza with no extra cheese. Nevermond that they're smaller than a damn digorno pizza. I'd pay 10 per pie tops knowing what I was getting, and I'd still be reluctant because there are way better NY pizzas with actual crispy dough and crust. So I warn anyone who is interested in getting what they pay for to stay far, far away from this place. I ate 3 slices easily. My sons both ate half the other and were instantly looking for more. And my wife actually ate all three slices. And our family always jokes because she only ever gets through one and a half tops.
The service was fine. The atmosphere was a bit too pretentious for our family... but as I said, Sacketts harbor always has attracted very well-off folks. So I doubt they even know how much one of these pizzas cost because they likely didn't look at the receipt lmfao. JK, but not really.
And being from the jersey NY border, yall can trust my word on pizza. I can't say which state is better, but also having training in Chicago every 12th month. I know a good deep dish. And I'm a fan of all three. And this place is just gouging without even trying to do good. I actually feel like I was robbed. Wish I had gone to pick them up rather than my son. I'd have been the jersey Guido I am and opened the box and laughed and left without giving them any of my hard earned money. And to clarify, my last name is actually Guido but my great grandfather changed to O to an E when he was running away from the mafia in Brooklyn when he had kids and decided to get out.
Pics so you can see how thin the crust is and small soda for...
