Martoni Gourmet — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

I go to visit relatives in Northport a couple of times a year. I can't believe that I haven't been to this place before! I've driven by and noticed it but it kind of blends in.

I ordered 3 sandwiches (Rosa, Amore and Porchetta). I was a little concerned that the sandwiches might be on the small side, based on the images on the website. Well, let me tell you, these sandwiches are huge. One sandwich could be lunch and dinner (one half each meal) for a majority of people.

And the meatballs are tender with a delicious tangy marinara. These meatballs are better than Maroni down the street and much less expensive.

Sandwiches were so good, I picked up another for the beach the next day (La Nonna meatball sandwich). It was fantastic but did not come with any red sauce. Maybe they forgot it, I dunno. But I also ordered more meatballs and used that sauce to dip the sandwich

The macchiato was great. I am quite particular about coffee. This coffee was flavorful and strong

Two months ago I visited Rome with my family. The sights, people and beauty still stand out. Yet, it is the food that will be forever memorable. The little off the beaten path sandwich spots with Italian delicacies were forever memorable. It turns out, you don't have to fly to Rome for a top tier Italian food experience, just stop in to visit Martoni. You will not be disappointed. Their paninis, speciality sandwiches, burrata and delicious gelato brought us back to Rome. All accompanied with a great selection of Italian wines. We were so lucky to stroll a little away up Main Street to find this hidden gem! Martoni is a family owned shop with a family friendly vibe. Stop in! You'll find a Roman holiday...

Martoni's is a hidden gem in the village of Northport. Located right across from the post office. You step into a small cozy trattoria. The closest you may find to Italian heaven outside of NYC or Italy. Their menu is limited, but delicious. Their food is of a high quality and professionally prepared. The paninis are wonderful, soups and salads delicious, Their entrees and sides are all very good. I especially liked the meatballs and the eggplant parm. The eggplant was the best I've ever had; eggplant is done in layers which makes the flavors more delicate . The ending to it all is their homemade Gelato. Belissimo! I highly recommend you give them a try. You won't be disappointed....
