The service was fine. We were a big group there for food on Sunday at 12:00pm before the theater. While most of us ordered breakfast, I decided to keep it light with a bowl of “homemade” chicken noodle soup, that was one of 2 soup specials listed on their chalkboard today. It was definitely not homemade! It was Campbell’s condensed soup topped with breast meat from what tasted like a rotisserie chicken. The noodles and the small cube of dark chicken meat that was always in my bowl of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup when I was a kid were the giveaway. This was my first time at this diner and will be my last. Rather than make a scene and say something to the owner who stopped by our table (I think that’s who’s pictured on their instagram page), I didn’t say anything. I did comment to the person I was sitting next to that they served me Campbell’s soup and she suggested maybe they use it as a soup starter. Really? In a restaurant. No excuse. BTW I did try to call the diner after the show was over but they were closed. I did message them privately on their website. But I really doubt that will get their attention. Shame on them for trying to pass off that soup as homemade. I don’t eat canned soup at home and I don’t expect to be served canned soup in a restaurant, diner, cafe etc. how does this place...
Read moreTim's Shipwreck Diner is by far and away the best local breakfast and lunch spot around. Located in the quaint village of Northport, Tim's offers homemade, fresh food at a fair price. Each dish is lovingly prepared by Tim and the amazing kitchen 'crew', while the warm and friendly front of house 'crew' make you feel right at home.
Tim only accepts cash, so hit the ATM before you get there, in case you forget, there is an ATM on site. Also, one should note that during peak mealtimes on the weekends and holidays, this place is can get crowded, sometimes theres a wait, but it's well worth it. There is ample seating in the enclosed outdoor patio which is open during the warmer months, and has a charming ambiance. If you're flying solo, there are 7 or 8 stools at the counter, which always makes for a nice social experience.
The food here is mostly comfort food items. The Eggs Benedict (which come in several varieties including Avacado Eggs Benedict, Shrimp and Crabcakes Eggs Benedict, and more) are a staple on Tim's menu. Make sure not to overlook the sandwiches, such as the Ovengold or Meatloaf. There us a daily quiche, soup, breakfast and sandwich specials as well. One thing is for certain, whatever you decide on, it will be delicious, fresh, made with love, and served to your liking...
Read moreTim's Shipwreck Diner is a hidden treasure in Northport. This charming and quaint dining-car-meets-boat offers a wide variety of homemade American fare. Pictured in this review is Tim's "Wreckfast" Burrito: a breakfast burrito stuffed with scrambled eggs, cheddar, bacon, sausage and hash-browns topped with your choice of hot sauce or hollandaise sauce (pictured here). This dish comes with home fries. It was absolutely delicious, and I would like to thank them for the complimentary dessert of tapioca pudding- thank you so much, very tasty treat! I should mention the beautiful dining patio in the back; you can enjoy your meal al fresco in the nicer weather. Last but not least, I would be remiss to not mention the great service. The staff are very pleasant, thoughtful and attentive. If you are looking for a nice little family friendly restaurant in Northport Village, Tim's Shipwreck Diner is the...
