Ralph's Famous Italian Ices — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

I tried to return a cup of ice cream after accidentally ordering the wrong flavor, and they denied my request to exchange it. Not great customer service IMO... but, okay whatever. If that’s their policy I understand.

I then spoke to the owner about their policy on exchanges very politely. I was not insistent on receiving a refund or exchange, I just wanted to ask if exchanges were possible since the owner happened to be there.

Out of nowhere the manager comes over and starts telling the owner I am a “liar". And said I knew exactly the type of ice cream I was getting even though I had explicitly explained to her I did not know exactly the flavor I was ordering - it was for someone else.

I never asked for a refund or exchange during this entire conversation with the owner. I found it unbelievable to be called a “liar” by the manager. Especially in a situation where I have nothing to gain from lying, lol.

I've been coming to this place for several years with my family, I live right down the block and unfortunately I will never return after this interaction. I've never been treated worse...

This place is very run down. Their service is drive thru and window only, so you can't walk in to place your order. If you don't have a car and you walk in through the front entrance, you will be made to go to the window (right of the entrance), which barely opens and once you do open it, it will try and fall back shut. When I went here for training during rush hour, there were only kids working here, and they didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. The place was filthy, and the sink in the back was infested with flies. The owner, Debra Sisun, fired me after two forty-five minute shifts. How am I supposed to learn a first job with an hour and a half of experience? Coworkers complain about not receiving paychecks as well. If I could give zero stars, I...

EDIT: As of July 2023, new owners came in and did totally renovate the exterior seating. Haven’t returned yet but would like to. Leaving the review below from my initial impression earlier in 2023 until making another visit.

ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWS Seems like a “staple” summer stop, but the Dix Hills location could do with a bit of a facelift. It’s noisy on Jericho Turnpike, so I understand the thought behind lack of outside seating, but I’d still enjoy something more than the plastic deck chairs out there.
