Changing Times American Sports Bar & Grille — Restaurant in Town of Islip

A great place for good drinks & tasty snacks! Changing Times has a nice sized bar and eating area. There are tons of Tv’s inside to watch sporting events! Support your LOCAL sports bars! The vibe is very relaxed.

Located in Bay Shore on Main St., metered parking is available. It might take a while to find a spot, I suggest Ubering there.

The prices were great! The drinks are fairly priced and very strong. They have tons of drink specials worth looking at! The food is also easy on the wallet. You will definitely get what you pay for! Large portions too.

The service was excellent! Our server was very attentive. Even though it was Friday night, the service didn’t suffer. There are no reservations usually, but I was able to reserve a table simply by calling and giving them my name.

The food was great! This place is a typical bar food type of place. Don’t expect upscale, that’s not what this place is. It’s very relaxed with great snacks. My favorite food of the night had to be the boneless wings! They were some of the best I’ve ever had!! I will be reviewing what I tried:

-Perogies: Tasty, the sautéed onions heightened the dish. It came with quite a few of them, great for sharing. 4 out of 5 stars

-Nachos Deluxe: My suggestion, stick with the chili! It’s very flavorful. This portion is huge and packed with toppings. The chips stayed crisp. 5 out of 5 stars

-Poo Poo Platter: Wow! This is perfect to order for a small group. The boneless wings were awesome! The potato skins, mini tacos, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks really satisfied my greasy food craving. 4.5 out of 5 stars

-Side of Fries: Nice and crispy! Served hot and a nice sized portion. 5 out of 5 stars

-Funnel Cake Fries: The perfect way to end a delicious meal and came with chocolate & raspberry dipping sauces! 5 out of 5 stars

Overall, I will definitely be back to Changing Times for the boneless...

Tonight was my third time eating here. The first two times were great, but today was just not the way i liked it. I ordered a “changing times original steak sandwich” cooked medium and i asked the waitress if there’s any other sides besides fries and she showed me on the menu where the other choice of fries are. So i saw there was a loaded fries side and i told her ill have that. So by the time the food came out my mother ordered a calamari and then my sandwich came out. As i noticed the loaded fries i ordered didnt come on the plate with the sandwich, i told her about it and she told me it would come out, once it came out, it was on a seperate side dish. So now it was ridiculous how i had my plate with regular fries and another plate of the loaded fries and i didnt like how the steak tasted. It had NO flavor at all and it was hard to bite into, the Meat was very chewy and i just was very disappointed by it and i even asked for steak sauce and it still didn’t solve the problem. Our waitress was barely attentive and walked past us a bunch of times without asking how’ everything and if we need anything else. Once i got the check, she made a mistake on it where she charged double for the calamari and had to take it back to fix that problem. My mother & I then left dissatisfied the way things were tonight and barely enjoyed our food, even saying the calamari lacked flavor. Hopefully this review will show how things were sour tonight and that they can make better adjustments and improvements to the service and food. Next time I come back I would like the food with better seasoning and a better server who’s more involved and doesn’t make mistakes...

Came here after work event on a Monday in July. I had called earlier in the day and spoke with the manager Chris. I wanted to give him a heads up that we had a big group approximately 45 people coming in later that night. Chris told me not to worry and that we would be taken care of by Jimmy the evening manager. He did not lie. I arrived and met with Jimmy. We went over our budget and what he could do for us. Let just say I was very impressed by him and his staff! Michelle and Gia were behind the bar making great drinks. They were very funny and made sure everyone was taken care of. Ang was our waitress and she did an amazing job with recommendations and making sure we had enough food. The food was really good and we had so many options. The whole staff made us feel welcome and we all had such a great time! I look forward to coming back here for another event or just with friends and family for dinner / drinks.
