As a Bay Shore resident, culinary trained professional and fan of Verde Kitchen and many other local eateries, I was very excited waiting for Coastal Kitchen to open. I finally got a chance to go for food and drinks the other night and was sadly disappointed. $16 for a glass of Rum Punch and the menu stating "only two allowed per person" leads one to believe it's going to be nicely sized and 'rummed up really good'. Something original that people will be talking about like no other drink in town. :(........ Not the case. Comes in a regular sized glass with 99% ice packed in and watered down, and STILL the liquid drink isn't poured to the top of the glass, and could detect NO rum flavor!.... so a big rip off for almost $20, you could have 10 of them and not fell even buzzed. There might have been maybe one oz. of actual drink in there, or less. Sangria, completely pale and tasteless. Ordered the Jerk Chicken sandwich. NO jerk seasoning could be detected. It was pieces of chicken with BBQ sauce on it and some pineapple sprinkled over the top. NOT jerk chicken!?? Plus the bread it was served on was so over-toasted you could nearly chip a tooth. Could make your gums bleed. The guacamole was small in quantity and uninspired and the chips were bland, tastless and hard as rock. The inside is decorated nicely but I was there to try the food and drinks and they failed me miserably. I felt awful paying that check and leaving so unsatisfied and ripped off. The owner needs to get in people who actually know how to create this type cuisine and do it fast!! Customers would like the "real thing" please! At least learn what "jerked chicken" and "authentic Rum Punch" really is! Jamaicans are...
Read moreIt's not often I give out a 1 star and judging by the responses to negative ratings at this place, it seems like they have an answer/justification for everything so I'll keep this brief: Overpriced and disgusting. If you're going to advertise "steak" on your menu, please actually use a cut of steak that makes sense. What I received was a cut that would have gone great in a stew but to be served with fries as "steak fries" was baffling. It was so unappetizing that I didn't eat it. My partner got the same plate but different side dish. Their steak looked even worse. 70% fat and gristle; looked microwave nuked. The fact that they charge what they charge for what looked like something out of a horror movie is laughable. After reading some other negative reviews it seems like these aren't isolated incidents but a trend on how this place is managed and run. There are p l e n t y of options in Bayshore if you're looking for similar cuisine. Save your money and time; there's a reason Uber Eats support gave me a refund without question when I sent pictures of what I received for my "meal".
And for the record: driving distance 3 minutes, 10 minutes walking. Please argue that it was the delivery driver's fault. You've got direct competition in every direction on the block that can out cook and out service this place without even trying. If you're looking to improve, maybe take some of the negative feedback you've received into consideration. A four year old and four week old review bringing up the same valid points is pointing to a serious...
Read moreHave you ever been told that a restaurant could no longer serve your table food/ drinks at 7:30 pm on SATURDAY? No? This was my first time ever too. My family and I met up at Coastal for drinks and dinner to celebrate my birthday. We all got there around 4:30-5. There was about 7 of us. We ordered many drinks and food. Although we did stop eating we did keep ordering drinks, the bill had to EASILY be over $500. My friend came around 7 and went up to the waitress and asking to order a chicken sandwich, she literally said "I'm not allowed to serve that table food or drinks anymore". UM WHAT? She then came over and said that they had a reservation and needed the table, working in the restaurant business this is something I do and also don't understand. 1. If you really needed the table that bad, telling your guests you'll no longer serve them extremely unprofessional. 2. Being that I've worked in a few restaurants before, if a table was still ordering, we'd work it out another way. Never should a place of business ask you to get up from a table. Of course we all felt extremely uncomfortable after that and made our way over to the tap room. Sad to say we will not be returning to Coastal, which sucks because I love it in there and they do have...
