Dear God in the heavens above, you have gifted us mere mortals with a lovely 50's themed ice cream shop where we can find out what heaven tastes like.
My wife mentioned that this was supposed to be a highly rated ice cream parlor, and given that my thought process is determined by a combination of my life experiences and a self-aware sweet tooth, I waited patiently for the perfect time to "suggest" that we pick something up from them.
My brother-in-law and his family had stopped over, providing the perfect excuse to try them out, and we swung out to pick up one of their ice cream cakes. It was easily the star of the family gathering, even beating out the babies for getting the most love from the guests.
The ice cream is homemade, and has this great mix of a creamy texture but not too sweet. The latter is a big deal, because even my sister-in-law, who has complained about a boiled chicken as being "too flavorful" actually asked for a second slice, because it was the perfect balance of taste and weight.
Since then, my wife and I bring any and all guests out there to show off, as if we somehow are responsible for the desserts. Well, we are responsible for introducing people to the ice cream, so I guess there is that. They have a lot of flavors, and I heartily recommend the cakes, shakes, and ready-to-go pints. I'm working my way through the chocolate flavors and have yet to be disappointed.
The place can be eat-in or take-out, and while I imagine is very busy in the summer, so far we have not had any trouble with wait times. Prices are a bit high, but I have never regretted a purchase. It really fits perfectly into the definition of having a "treat"...
Read moreI don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience at this ice cream shop was disappointing enough to say something. There was a young Spanish girl with glasses working behind the counter who had a really unprofessional attitude. From the moment we walked in, she was dismissive — barely acknowledged us, rolled her eyes, and spoke with a tone that came off as rude, not just to me and my girlfriend, but to other customers too.
Customer service matters, especially in a place that should feel welcoming. Instead, it felt like we were bothering her by simply placing an order. I noticed other people in the shop having similar reactions — it wasn’t just us.
Everyone has bad days, but if you’re working with the public, basic respect goes a long way. Hopefully management addresses this, because the service left a bad taste — and it had nothing to do with...
Read moreWe walked in and there were three people working and one customer in the store. We sat there at the counter for over 10 minutes while they made other orders and nobody even said hello to us. Someone else walked in and was greeted and they asked if they could help him and I had to step in and tell them that we had been standing there for 10 minutes without even being greeted.
This is unacceptable for a place that disguises itself as a friendly as 1950s café and also unacceptable for a place that has the nerve to charge $14 for a large sunday. For the amount of money that you charge I recommend that you stress to your employees how important it is to be friendly and over the top with each customer that walks in the door willing to pay that much...
