After trying to remember to stop by on so many occasions after learning of their opening, I finally made it to Duck Donuts. Here's the scoop for the uninitiated, I learned these the hard way. Traditionally, donuts are made with either a yeast dough or a cake dough. These are cake donuts. They only make one donut, that's it. However, the magic happens when the customer chooses their flavor combinations of icing, drizzle, and toppings. I chose to get a half dozen in pairs; two Lemon icing with Raspberry drizzle, two Maple icing with Salted Caramel drizzle topped with chopped Bacon, and two Peanut Butter icing with Hot Fudge drizzle. I didn't realize they're meant to be eaten while still warm, don't make the same mistake. Had I read the box carefully, it's right on there. Nothing a dozen or so seconds in the microwave couldn't fix but, it's clearly not the same (times/microwaves vary, haha). Also, these will take a bit to put together and part of your first experience should include enjoying the show. Four customers who ordered boxes of donuts after me left before me and I started to get impatient. As a noob no longer, I now know it was a rookie mistake not watching the young lady create dessert art. I was presented the open box for my approval before the top was placed, and still didn't get it. It didn't click until I finished the day's first cup of coffee later and I felt terrible. If you're reading this review, I apologize for not showing more appreciation for your hard work. I'll be sure to make up for it next visit. The only reason I didn't give five stars is due to the menu. To me, it's not user friendly. The register placemats have a frosted plastic spill protection which makes it hard to see the pictures of each donut. There are more choices on glossy cardboard menus at the counter but, one should know what they want by time you're standing in front of the cashier so as not to hold up those behind you. Finally, considering the effort each donut requires and the care given to not only taste but, appearance, make sure you tip well. This isn't the local coffee chain where the employees are simply going through the motions and, it shows in the...

I work at a nearby office building to the Duck Donuts in Hauppauge, literally 6 mins away, and decided to stop in today after receiving a raving review about this exact location from my current intern from Stony Brook University.
She did NOT tell me that the donuts are MADE FRESH TO ORDER! This was such a pleasant surprise.
The cashier was so welcoming! He asked the woman in front of me if she's been there before. She said, "Yes", and he happily continued with a, "Thank you! Welcome back!" and proceeded to assist her with an order of a dozen donuts.
When it was my turn, he asked the same question, and I said, "No, this is my first time actually", and he gave me the same warm smile and said, "Welcome! Allow me to give you the Duck Donut Introduction!", and proceeded to introduce me to the staff, menu, and order options.
I gladly asked for half a dozen, picking out the Maple Bacon and Ultimate Cookie Butter donuts before asking him to pick the rest of the flavors for me. Usually, people HATE when customers ask this or their preference, but with the same upbeat attitude, the cashier picked out to Oreo dusted donuts and asked if these were okay. Perfection. Then I asked, "May I used my account? I signed up a few days ago?" He showed me how to enter my number on the kiosk and BOOM! I can get two free donuts! GIVE. IT. TO. ME!
I asked him to pick the flavors again, which he switched it up to blueberry and a wild card flavor I cannot recall... Before we concluded the order, he asked if I wanted to add any drinks, I kindly declined and paid with excitement.
Tip went up just for the kindness.
After the order was placed, I sat for a few minutes before hearing my name called, and was met by another smile. They apologized for the wait, boxed up the donuts and wished me a good weekend!
The smell of Vanilla and warm Maple Bacon filled my car as I rushed home.
100/10, please go enjoy Duck Donuts in Hauppauge!
