Vallarta Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Found this place while hanging with my son while he was getting 5 Guys. I decided I wanted something other than a burger. So I looked around, saw Vallarta Grill, looked up the rating and saw how good it was. Went in, ordered a chicken Fajita burrito and my son ordered the monster steak burrito and it was good! I was pleasantly surprised how tasty the food was. There's a lot of Mexican places that don't season their food very well and it tastes bland, but not here! Went in the next day and ordered the Vallarta combo and it was delish! The staff is nice, the prices are very reasonable and the amount of food is incredibly generous. Someone mentioned on here that the chicken was dry and that can happen when you grill chicken on a flat grill instead of in a pan or not covering it with a metal cover with a bit of water. So other than that I'll definitely be coming back here and so...

Crappy service. Ordered an item, menu states it costs $8.65. I question “why the total is $10.53?” and the clerk says “that’s the new price”. I asked “why are you guys falsely advertising the prices?” He shrugs his shoulder and says “I just work here”. So I asked, “who’s in charge”, he says “they left for the day”. So I ask, “no one’s in charge”? He says “no”. I leave to get my order from next store and return to make sure I crossed out the tip section on the signed receipt. I ask him for the SIGNED RECEIPT THAT I RETURNED TO HIM, he prints me a duplicate receipt so I repeat my request and he rudely says he just gave it to me (seriously?).

Clearly the counter clerk (man with goatee, mid twenties?) is incompetent at the simplest of jobs. I’ll never order from here again. I hope the salad my girlfriend...

We have been coming here since they opened. I cannot believe I’ve never reviewed them before!! This is hands down our favorite place for Mexican favorites. I love the food and it is our go-to for a quick awesome meal. The Chicken Torta is my favorite, but I also love the flautas, bare burrito, chimichangas and you can’t go wrong with a quesadilla. My husband gets a fre of their varieties of burritos. Oh, and you HAVE to try the wings. They are amazing. Something for everyone- from the non adventurous to foodies- can be found. You will love it.
