Golden Chicken — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Let me start by the service, cause it was the worst ever. I went there for mother's day,party of 4, the wait wasn't long and I didn't have a reservation. Seriving size is good. Food was a bit salty and very over cooked! However!!!!! They had PLENTY of staff serving and when I tell you they came to our table only for the obvious, to take our order and for the check, that's about all the service we got, I had to chase them down for another drink, napkins and had to wait for the check for what seemed like 30 mins, again, staff just hanging around it we were trying to catch eye contact with any of them to help us and nothing. No personality. On top of that they add into the bill the TIP, I'm a tipper, so I don't have a problem leaving gratitude but for this particular service I was not trying to leave them the $21 mandatory tip. The food wasn't great either, I got the " mixed rice with steak and chicken and the steak was like rubber" they don't serve alcohol and the waitresses are not kind. And I was wondering why they were all so snobby then it made sense... They don't have to do much, they get tipped regardless. Horrible horrible service , wouldn't recommend, never going back. Highly disappointed, since the other location was the complete opposite. Again, I take being busy into consideration many time, not in this case, it just wasn't good ... There are many Peruvian restaurants that are amazing, don't waste your $$ at this one. I have tried this location 2X btw, just figured they had an off day the first time. But it just seems like it's just that type...

Hey google never one to leave a review but for this one I has to take time out to write a review . Me and my fiancé rate food for fun and that’s our version of dates and family fun. We decided one Sunday we wanted to go and give this place a try. I soon as we walk in we get greeted by a snotty host, her vibe was off from the beginning the moment we walked in . I ignored it and ask her for a table for three, the place was packed she said we”ll have to wait outside for 10min. I was ok with it , so we’re waiting outside for longer something like 15min. Mind you as we’re waiting we see two groups of people walk. After a few minutes of waiting to see if the other people would come outside to wait as well. We realized they never came back out they got seated right away …. So I go back in stand in the front , the host see me and rushes to the back pretending like she didn’t. I wait until she decides to come to the back , and ask hey “what’s going on I just saw people get seated and me and my family been outside waiting for a while . She replies oo they were a group table , which was a complete lie . After this we left because we were offended and the whole vibe was off. Took my brother and my parents here before my flight at LaGuardia. It’s been years since I went to this spot and it holds a special place in my heart because it is the first restaurant I ever tried Peruvian food at.

The lomo saltado is my favorite dish of all time. They had a great lunch menu selection, but the full menu was available as well. Ordered an array of dishes. Portions were fantastic. Thank goodness my dad and I got the lomo saltado on the lunch portion. (Lunch entrees come with either a soup or salad, or soda!) My mom and brother got the dinner portions and it was definitely a bang for your buck.

I would love to come back the next time I’m in my hometown. My dad was already raving to it with one of his Peruvian coworkers.

The place is so vibrant with all the colors and decorations throughout. There was more seating than I expected. Music was fantastic and set a fun, upbeat vibe.

They also do to go orders as well!

It’s paid street parking but Main Street is so easy to navigate.

I was happy to be able to dine in the first Peruvian restaurant I ever visited (back in 2014.) happy to see it’s still striving more than a decade later!
