It is with a heavy heart I change my 5 star review. I brought everyone to izumi to eat even tho they wanted to go elsewhere. I change my 5 star review Not because they are not authentic Japanese and are Chinese run, not because the food was terribly sweet smothered in sauce or because the show was terrible and short compared to my earlier experiences, everyone has an off day. We were the last hibachi meal and no one thought to say that we are closing in an hour and a half, we were only there 45 minutes to an hour. The server rushed through helping us borderline kicking us out after the sizzling food just hit our plates, which I didn't mind too much, but I did mind that the manager blamed the entire experience on the server and the busboys waiting one table away like vultures. The group I came with were upset and I tried to say, it's ok they aren't pushing us out. I asked for the manager AFTER paying our 268 dollar with 38 dollars in gratuity, we weren't looking for a discount or freebie. I just wanted to express the feeling of being hurried after getting our food, I didn't even get to drink my scorpion bowl drink.. I expected to hear that it wasn't their intention and we can finish our meal within a reasonable time, I have a newborn and we just wanted to eat and leave. The manager started to tell me " they are closing" "the server had a bad day" "this is the server last day". I was surprised, what do I care about her day? This is your restaurant, can I eat or not? When I said this, I was told "I didn't let her speak". You had enough time to tell me about your server. I think I was within my rights to say I don't care. Only when I say that I literally live 5 minutes away and that I will let my neighbors know how they treated me and i will never come back again did we get a 20% discount on our NEXT visit (not happening) and the option to take my scorpion bowl with me from someone else watching us get visibly mad trying to reason with the manager. There were a lot of things wrong with our meal, not the sushi that's always fresh and great. There were alot wrong with service, I tried to look past. What I do not agree with is how management "managed" the issues. Until their approach to their guests is fixed, I advise you choose somewhere else. They got lazy and rude. When I figure out how to post a picture of the bill and receipt you can see 8:30pm the bill started and the bill we paid at 930pm. Not exaggerating at all.

Then our salads got there and they gave us barely any lettuce at all. My dad talked to the "manager" let's call her Karen. Who had no management skills whatsoever. Didn't do anything to comp my dad for his bad salad. Another lady come back just to refill our Waters one time. Didn't get any second drinks. Got our apps, they didn't come to take our plates for over 15 mins and meanwhile the guy started cooking the main course at this point. Hellen comes back and singles me out saying to me "oh you don't like me, you don't like me, I'm Helen if you need more drinks let me know." In a condescending, sarcastic, rude and unprofessional manner. Then she never came back after that. They skipped out of the food they gave you..bad portion sizes on the scallops and the veggies. The guy gave me the wrong sauce when I asked for the brown sauce, then had to go to an entirely different hibachi table to take their sauce to give me more. So whoever is supposed to be stocking their stuff didn't care either to do their job either. Then two more people had to talk to the "manager" again just so they would comp the birthday boys meal. Hellen comes back and rudely says to my cousin's wife "oh so you want cake now" totally rude, and ruining any form of surprise. Just to be a b one more time. Then to top it all off they forced an 18% gratuity tip on your check. I honestly didn't want to leave any tip. Our server didn't deserve a dime. What a joke . So this lady was a complete snob to our whole table and still forced $80 in tips out of us. None of us even ran our debit or credit cards because of the horrible service and lack of trust at that point. Terrible place will definitely not recommend and will not be back. Trash.

I’m not sure the women’s name who claimed she was the manager there (picture of her included) but I have never in my life been treated so poorly in a restaurant ever. We were all having a good time until at the end when our chef cooking our meal realized one of our friends order wasn’t complete. They had ordered chicken and steak and had only received chicken. So ok no problem, my friend said just leave it, it’s fine I’ll just have the chicken. The grill was off and he was beginning to clean the grill so it really wasn’t an issue just chicken was fine. However the “ manager” was extremely rude and accused her of not asking for both and that they reviewed everyone’s orders before they cook. Which is correct they did recite back all orders correctly but once completed is when we noticed we were missing an order of steak. So she’s arguing with the chef I’m not sure what’s being said as it’s not in English. She than proceeded to take food off of my friends plate because she noticed that they had been given two extra pieces of shrimp. I kid you not she took her fork and a plate and picked the shrimp off her plate and she stated they should only have two because they had only ordered chicken. What level of petty is that? They messed up their order and than took food off their plate??? I’ve never in my life! Not an apology or an offer to rectify the situation. To top it off when we received a bill it had an extra charge for 3 beers when we only had two. They looked under the table to make sure we didn’t have the 3rd bottle stashed!!! I’m disgusted and appalled to have been treated this way. I will never go back and I will never recommend this place. I was so upset I never even finished my own meal because of what was going on. I’ll be going to Nishiki from now on, I’m sorry I ever tried this place as it was recommended to me by the friend who they took the shrimp from! And they order there frequently in the past but will no longer be giving them their business any longer. Whoever this women is should be taught how to speak to customers, this was so unprofessional and could have been handled a lot better.

Absolutely terrible service from the desk staff who claims she is the owner. I came in tonight for my fiancés 25th birthday unfortunately her father passed away today as well. Anyways I was trying to cheer her and her family up by taking them for a nice hibachi dinner to lighten the mood. The hibachi chef was great we tipped him $40 in cash. I specifically made sure they knew to sing happy birthday to her and bring out dessert and they didn’t they came around asked if we wanted to order dessert and we declined telling us the kitchen was closing. I then went back up to the front desk and then said something again about the birthday dessert after embarrassing myself in front of my family after the long tragic day we had they finally brought something out. The bill was over $300 and normally I tip 30-50% of the bill because I’m a firm believer in taking care of wait staff when I go out especially if they give great service tonight I was so angry I decided to leave a note to the owner and a $0 tip and I’m the last to complain I don’t think I’ve ever sent a dish back to the kitchen and I eat out a lot and if you look at my reviews I don’t leave many but tonight it was more than necessary! As my mother-in-law was walking out of the door, the so-called owner confronted her as she walked outside to smoke a cigarette that I didn’t leave them a tip basically blaming us for their mistake on the birthday celebration as I walked out of the door the so-called owner was very confrontational with me. Do business not believe in customer service anymore? Last time I came in I spent over $750 and left 200+ dollar tip and today I feel like I got treated as if I walked into a Burger King. I am very disappointed with the customer service at this establishment. I did tell the so-called owner that I would not be returning and all I got in return was the nasty attitude. For the future of your business, I really hope you change your customer experience Because if this is how you guys are going to run your operation going forward, you are going to lose a lot of loyal customers like myself.. something very similar happened to this last year and I think they made it right must be new owners if the lady really is the owner.
