Carvel — Restaurant in Town of Islip

So I stopped here at my wife's request for soft vanilla ice cream. I'm not a fan of ice cream so I figured why not stop here grab one for her. The store itself is clean, the service is friendly and I mean everything that you expect to be done in a ice cream shop was done properly. But Carvel and the price of its ice cream was just shocking to me. A small, which is probably no more than the width of most people's hands and not very tall. Just plain vanilla ice cream with sprinkles, total cost was just under $7. Two nights later I bought her one from McDonald's soft vanilla ice cream sundae which was probably about the same amount of ice cream content for half the price. The best part about is that she liked it just as much. So Carvel does nothing wrong but their price is just becoming out of my league enough to feel like I'm not getting the value...

So I just came back home to visit my sick father. I now live out in Iowa. So my very sick father wanted a shake. I of course said sure. Carvel shakes are great. My parents live 4 min from this location so I flew up there scared they would close at 9. I was happy to see the sign stating open until 10. After a few minutes deciding what I wanted I walked up to the counter to place my order. Right before I say anything she says “we don’t have shakes or avalanches “ so I said is the machine broken? She said no. “ we are getting ready to close” I said it’s 9:08. Aren’t you open until 10. She of course said yes. I was so enraged at this point so I had to walk off and cuss away. We just celebrated my son’s 4th birthday today and he’s obsessed with fish. I ordered a Fudgey The Whale cake and they asked what color I’d like the writing and I said “could you make it orange? That’s his favorite color. And can you maybe do a little fish on it? He’s obsessed with a certain orange fish.” 🤣 The woman I spoke to said they could do that, and then she said, do you want me to make the entire cake an orange fish? I didn’t even realize they could do that. My kid went ape sh*t! He loved it!! It looked so amazing. The person I spoke to was so kind and helpful, she offered suggestions to make it even more special. And the price of the cake was so reasonable. Highly recommend...
