Matthew's Seafood House — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Never again will my family and I go to this restaurant. It was the WORST experience ever! First, food is over priced. It took over an hr and half for our drinks and lunch. The server was very rude and unprofessional. Anytime we asked for something he had an attitude and would throw it on the table. After we notified another server the server assigned to our table threw our check on the table and said “just pay your bill and don’t come back”. He served all the Caucasian guests appropriately except us. Why, because were of a different ethnic group?!? I’m sorry I’m not Blonde with blue eyes but my money is just as good. And when brought up to upper management about our experience. I was in complete shock when we were brushed off and told to just pay bill and leave.

My family and I were there in August, on a Sunday..MY UNCLE who worked for YOU years ago was so excited to see YOU. All he talked about for days and weeks was that the food was amazing and how it was such a great restaurant.. and to find that YOUR employee had an attitude the entire time, took forever with our drinks. Who eats without having anything to drink?, was completely unprofessional. Never asked us if we needed anything else, NOTHING. Finally asked another server to get us some drinks and she had to tell him so he came over with the most disgusting attitude than before and nearly dropped a drink on a child!!!! My partner took me on a surprise date to Montauk, and we had dinner at Matthew’s Seafood House after mooring our boat at the nearby marina. I was so excited for our romantic trip, but Matthew’s ruined it completely! First, we had incredibly rude wait staff. I couldn’t believe someone like our waiter would still be employed, until I saw the manager! He walked around the dining room for about 20 minutes, chest puffed out, just exuding arrogance. We couldn’t look away! Finally, our $0.99 clams and oysters arrived. They were okay, but our lobster was not as good as it should have been for the price. The worst, however, came a couple hours later: We were both so sick! I ended up in the emergency room with unspeakable food poisoning. With the attitudes we saw, I shouldn’t have been surprised. Don’t risk it! Even if the food had been exceptional, it wouldn’t have been worth it. The worst experience I have ever had. First the waitress took forever when we first sat down. We ordered our meals there were 6 of us. After waiting over an hour we complained to the waitress and we were told it’s coming this is after watching 5 other tables being served even after being seated after us. We complained again not even being asked if we would like water or another drink. Well the waitress came with a partial meal for two of us and proceeded to know over a glass of water onto my wife and all we got was I’m sorry well at two hours there was still one meal missing we then asked for the manager and voiced our displeasure with the service and how rude the waitress was well as expected the manager was no help at all.
