I hate to be a Karen but im gonna do it anyways. My sister & I personally don’t like going to this restaurant but we go because my parents enjoy the atmosphere & the food, & they look forward to going here every summer especially that I’m home from university. It’s usually a very nice experience, however the so called customer service we received yesterday made the experience unpleasant. A worker left our order out unlabeled & did not call our name, so multiple other customers opened and even touched our food (which isn’t their fault because they didn’t know whose order it was due to the worker’s lack of clarity), therefore I asked the worker to bring it back & bring us newly cooked, untouched food. this is not an unreasonable request because serving us food that other customers touched & rearranged is disgusting. This short teenage boy worker gave me a dirty look, rolled his eyes & scoffed. that’s honestly unacceptable because you would think that him applying for a job in food & accepting the offer letter, he knew what he was getting himself into. sorry that i don’t want to eat food touched by other people’s hands?? i work in retail — literally doing the BARE. MINIMUM. & even I give better customer service than that. not to mention this is a seafood restaurant, so you’d think their customer service would be decent. He then brought back alleged “newly cooked food,” but it was as cold as an unused toilet seat. They really just lied to us & said it was new even though it was colder than the food I just asked them to take back. i’ve received better customer service from chick fil a. CHICK FIL A. a LITERAL fast food place. i get that he may have been having a tough day but so is everyone else. don’t make it ur customers’ problem. just give me my fish (preferably untouched by other people) that i paid for & then leave me alone. i work in RETAILLLL, I get bossed around like a monkey by customers 24/7 doing god’s work WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE, but this dude gets away with giving customers such an attitude. overall, I am very unpleased with that one worker & tbh this place was better when he wasn’t employed here. anyways the fries were tasty. thanks for coming to...
Read moreI've lived in New York for over 40 years, then moved to San Antonio after starting my own businesses and wanting to retire early instead of paying out the wazoo to the blockheads who run NY State. I will tell you what I do miss, the freshness of the seafood. One day, I was driving east on Merrick Road, after a crap job laid me off, and I found this small inlet to the south. I turned off, and had the best new england clam chowder and red snapper steak I have ever had, even at Michelin Star restaurants.
These folks are the fisherman who supply some of the best local catch to the fancy restaurants around the Island and the City, even throughout the country. What they don't sell, they cook up right there; nothing pretentious, just butter, salt, some pepper, and they let the fresh catch do the talking. Even the steamed vegetables are incredible; garlic, salt, butter, and finished in a pan.
I've noticed some reviews on here that mention they were disappointed. I can understand and would agree with them. But the issue is, these are folks who are ordering items that the fisherman would NOT catch locally. To expand the menu, they do buy and order some non-local seafood. It won't be completely fresh if it is not locally caught, and may even have been frozen. Do the research and order only what the fishermen are catching locally, and you will get great...
Read moreThese guys never seem to fail to impress me. First time here I got the two 1 1/2 lb Lobsters, clam strips, long island chowder, jumbo shrimp, clams and oysters. By far the freshest and more genuine seafood experience I had in a long time. Today was the seccond time I visited to eat in. We got baked clams, blackened mako with linguini and clam sauce, long island chowder and oysters. Again, amazing and very pleased. Thank you very much guys. I surf and it's really nice to have a seafood restaurant close by to feast on. The freshness you guys offer is amazing and the vibe you guys offer is even better. Weather I'm bringing a date, coming right after a beach sesh, or after work for a quick pick up, not shaved in basketball shorts or dressed up casually I know I'll be welcomed to pick off your menu and I feel like home coming to your place. Keep it up. Everything. The younger guys working there, the "Bay smell" during low tide....all of the selections.....you guys are killing it. Of course there's other options like salt and barrel and swept away and coastal but for the money and experience there's no other place better than white cap. Thank you...
