This was my third time at Sherwoods, and it will be my last time. The 1st 2 times I came, I experienced terrible service, but I chalked it up to them being busy. My third visit here, I took it upon myself to pay close attention to the service. Buckle up for this play by play! My GF and I (party of 2), were seated. And maybe 2-3 minutes later, another couple was seated next us. A waitress took their order first. The couple next to us probably waited 3-4 minutes before they ordered. Normal timing. A family of 3 sat next to us on our other side a few minutes later, maybe 4 5 minutes. And a waitress took their order maybe 3-4 minutes after they were seated. So we're there 12-15 minutes now and haven't gotten our order taken. Somewhere in the 15-20 minute period we finally get our order taken. The couple next to us received an appetizer(chicken wings), ate it all. Got their order of ribs. The other family next to us got their appetizer (potato skins), then got their meals. Now back to the couple who got the chicken wings, and then ribs for dinner. They finished their entire rack of ribs and were ready to order dessert while I was still just sipping on a Seltzer. Somewhere between 45-60 minutes after being seated I couldn't take it anymore and told me GF we're leaving, and we walked out. The service was blantly terrible and it was directed to the only people of color in the restaurant. I'm a life long Westchester resident, and this was the first time I experienced such obvious prejudicial treatment. It now makes sense I haven't seen a person of color the 3 times I've been there. Read moreThe "manager" (Blonde Lady) refused to sit my party of 7 because we had my 17 month year old son with us (She said it's a family restaurant every other night). She claimed you must be 21 or older for "Wing Night". That rule changed when my brother asked another employee. He said it's ok as long as they stamp his hand (the CRAZIEST thing I heard all day). Your bartender has a problem if he even thinks about serving a toddler booze. She decided to sit us if 1 person sits with my son at a separate table (They could not participate in 20 Cent wing night since he is a minor). Sitting us at separate tables would've took away from another party that was waiting (TERRIBLE IDEA)
Anywho my Girlfriend and I decided to leave with our son; while the rest of my family stayed. I doubt this "rule" applies to everyone. You're telling me 2 parents cannot take their 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19, or 20 year old out for wings. Sounds like a family restaurant to me. Read moreNice tavern with good food, Saturday evening so it was busy, very long wait for the buffalo hot wings appetizer my mate and I shared. Long wait also for the two orders of chicken and ribs dry rub combo which we both thought was very good, wings were great. I just have to add that my friend and I both agreed that the service could have been better but overall we had an enjoyable dinner there and didn't feel rushed, wait time for a table in the back was only 5 minutes and this was our second time going there, previous time was for wings and beer a year and a half ago. We'll be back again I'm sure and will try sitting in the front of Restaurant next time where the bar is located where it's a bit more lively and bustling as you would expect being next to a bar on a busy Saturday night, I would recommend going earlier on weekend nights before it gets into very busy mode.
