It was certainly an interesting experience having Fox News playing in the background after we ordered from our very friendly server. While we waited (it wasn't too long for our meals to arrive) we noticed many people smiling and lots of full tables, always a good sign for a diner.
The food was excellent, and the home fries alone rated amongst the top servings I've ever experienced. In addition to having a lovely meal which satisfied both the senses of taste and smell, my vision was ensconced and entranced by the large television now displaying a wildly gesturing televangelist who's pontificating was only legible through the on screen captions. I almost regret not being able to hear his verbose fervor, and instead enjoyed his gesticulating and animated embellishments along with a very lovely meal.
Food = 9/10 Service = 9/10 Atmosphere = Fox News and Televangelism
(Edit for response to owner reply): That's alright. I don't quite understand the need for a television at all, but I am one lone opinion in a sea of viewpoints. It's the first diner I've ever seen with a television playing, but it was certainly interesting. I understand that some customers may enjoy expressive Televangelism, but it just seemed rather at odds with the overall atmosphere of a breakfast eatery (also open for dinner).
Rest assured I will be back, the food was top notch, and the television was a very minor issue, I just felt compelled to share the oddity of the...
Read moreHonestly it's pretty terrible. The first red flag is we had to ask for utensils as we sat here with people walking around us not paying any attention to the fact that we weren't eating our food. Their scrambled eggs were dry and not scrambled, they were just fried. Their sausage links are real sausage instead of breakfast sausage links which I personally hate but that's my opinion and their corned beef hash was a sad excuse of mushy disgustingness that I absolutely covered in hot sauce to eat because I was starving. I had pretty high hopes for this place but I don't recommend it unless you like dessert like breakfast. My girlfriend said the pancakes were great flavor wise but the texture was horrible and they fell apart and turned mushy too fast, the home fries were very salty. I ended up paying full price for everything even after telling the waitress that I didn't like it and only ate 5 bites and she offered me nothing off. It didn't sit well with me so I went back in and said I didn't want to make a scene but it didn't sit well with me paying full price for food we didn't eat. I said I'll happily pay for one of them but I'm not paying for both and the women I spoke to completely...
Read moreFirst experience was at lunch time on Columbus Day, so that must be taken into consideration here. Upon walking in, the waiting area was overflowing and it was standing room only. Approximately 1 hour wait. Apparently, we needed to walk past everyone waiting to get checked in, but that was not apparent to us at the time. Luckily, a few seats opened up at the bar within 1 minute of our arrival, and nobody else wanted them, so we slid right in. The menu is awesome and eclectic, and the specials sounded amazing. I always appreciate unique options that you can't get elsewhere, and that's certainly something that can be found here. I got the Buddha bowl which was fantastic, and my friend got the Blueberry pancakes, also amazing. The service was excellent, the coffee was actually not good however. The homefries were the best I've had among all the diners I've tried around Syracuse. The atmosphere wasn't my vibe at all, but my friend liked it. Just not a fan of the stark yellow and lack of decor. With tip, our bill came to $50 for two people. So easily double the price of most diners in the area. That being said, we will return for another...
