Extra Space Storage — Local services in Town of Manlius

While searching for a storage facility on the internet i came across Life Storage in Manlius. In order to learn more I began filling out questions on their site, when my phone rang. I answered and the voice said hello this is Jeff Nicoson from Life Storage. My first thought was this company and manager are right on the ball. Jeff spoke about the facility in a very professional manner pointing out the highligts of the Manlius Life Storage. He invited us to come over and he would give us a tour. Within one hour we arrived and to our surprise this was no storage facility of the 80's. Jeff presented himself and Life Storage in a very professional and acomanating way. The office area was clean neat and very well air conditioned making for a pleasant place for our talk. We were taken on a tour by Jeff and he pointed out everything from security measures, key pads, operation of doors and more. Did I say the place was spotless, it was. Jeff and the facility sold us. We rented a 10x20 climate controlled unit with all the faith that our belonging will be safe and secure at the Life Storage in Manlius. It's early, yet, since I just started using this facility, but, so far, so good. The facility is clean, well-maintained and i feel that my property will be safe there. Some of the initial procedure for signing papers, etc could be streamlined, but all in all, the process was smooth. I did feel a little pushed to buy things, like a lock when the one I have would have been fine, but that's business, I guess.

In retrospect, the rest of the experience with this facility was quite negative:

I stored artwork there, choosing a temperature-controlled unit. In the winter, the temperature was lowered below the advertised temperature. It affected the art as paintings need to be stored at a certain temperature. Those precious family heirlooms were ruined.

-The manager was rude, nosy, and intrusive in my business, and bragged about his great reviews, most likely asking for one from me. Jeff does a really fantastic job running this facility. Always takes time to greet customers, just a genuinely nice guy who takes pride in his job and in maintaining an impeccably clean facility. Keep up the great work Jeff! You are the reason this facility is always so full.

Note to Life Storage management - hire more people like Jeff - people like him reflect really really well on the organization and make customers HAPPY to use your facility.

One example of how Jeff runs the facility - they recently had to relocate all of the campers at the facility in order to make room for a new building. Instead of waiting for formal "eviction" notices to go out to all the camper and trailer owners, Jeff took the time to personally call each of the owners to give them advance notice of the upcoming construction project. This gave all the owners additional advance notice (welcome for everyone) and gave them a chance to ask any questions they had....
