Update 08/19/2022: Went here on Friday (8/19/2022) with my dad since we were on our own for dinner. It was crowded, but there were tables available right away. We were greeted by hosts, who promptly sat us as we were given choices on where we want to sit (outside, in the dining room, or a booth in the bar.) We chose the booth in the bar. The mets verses philly game was on in the bar, so that was a plus, so we can watch the game! Our server was very nice, and took our orders. We ordered 2 waters, and my dad ordered his cherry vodka with sprite/7 up. Next, we ordered appetizer, which was nachos. The nachos seemed bigger than last time we went there, and had alot of Jalophanos. Still was very filling and good. For entrees, i ordered the Tex-mex chicken sandwich on a wrap with sweet potato fries, and my dad ordered the bistro steak sandwich with regular fries. both were really delicious, and i enjoyed it! Check was about $64, but wasn't horrible! hopefully will be back soon! Update 6/18/2022: Went here yesterday since i was off and able to eat dinner with my family. First we called ahead to see if there was a wait, which there was for outdoor seating, but for indoor seating there was none. We were greeted promptly at the door by hosts, and taken to our table. Our Server also greeted us promptly once we sat down. We had 3 waters, and 3 Cherry Vodkas with 7-up/ sprite. We started with the nachos. Next, we ordered our entrees and all got the same thing: the bistro steak sandwich: only thing different was i ordered mine with sweet potato fries, and my parents got regular fries. Both our appetizer and Bistro sandwich was good. Although it does seem like their nachos got a bit smaller, but they were still good Irregardless. Also my moms sandwich was missing avocado, but our server got us some avocado. Everything was delicous. our server did make an error on the check, however promptly took it off, and we were charged accurately. Will be back again soon! Been coming here for years, but only now starting a review of this place. They have a bar, a dining room, a patio room, and outdoors. on a nice hot day, the patio and outdoors is where one wants to be. There are even concerts at the captain's table on occasion. Fun place to be. Went here yesterday for an early dinner around 5:30. Was able to get seated right away with a smiling host for the party of 3. Suggestion is tho because it can get crowded, do call before coming! we were seated indoors, and greeted by our server promptly. He took accurate drink orders, which was water and one cherry vodka. He also took our appetitizer order, which we ordered the nachos. The nachos came out really delicous with the perfect amount of cheese, lettuce, tomato, and jalopenos. Next, my dad ordered the seafood special, i ordered the tex mex chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, and my mom ordered a chicken sandwich with regular fries. Order came out in a timely manner, and all was good! Enjoyed the captain's table! Will...
Read moreDirected to leave! My husband and I first time visited your restaurant (but we are local) during a heavy rainstorm and were seated at your outdoor bar area. We were accompanied by our French Bulldog, who is currently undergoing formal training as a service dog in New York State.
One of your staff members initially welcomed us and provided menus. However, another employee later approached us and informed us that dogs were not allowed in the area. We were directed toward leave outdoor bar (what is outside, in parking lot, shocked me the most), which was confusing and upsetting given our dog’s training status and the weather conditions.
I wanted to kindly bring to your attention that under New York State law, service dogs in training are permitted in public places, including restaurants and outdoor dining areas, as long as they are accompanied by their trainer and are well-behaved. This law helps ensure access and inclusion for people with disabilities and those working to train dogs to assist them.
We understand that not everyone is familiar with these rules, and we genuinely hope this message can help clarify things for future situations. We can’t enjoy the atmosphere and food, but hope that next time the rights of any other service dog teams — even those in training — will be respected.
P.S. Thank you for your reply. Just to clarify — while our dog is also an emotional support animal, the reason we brought her is because she is currently in formal service dog training in New York State. Under NYS Civil Rights Law § 47-b, service dogs in training are permitted in public places, including restaurants and outdoor dining areas, when accompanied by their trainer. We appreciate your attention to this, and hopefully you look forward to an improvement better experience and your employee attitude...
Read moreI’ve been to this restaurant before on a slow night and had some really good chowder. So tonight (on my bday wknd) I decided to come back because it was chilly. My mom and I (two women of color) came tonight and we left shortly after getting there. We came in the main entrance where the hostesses were sitting. They watched us for about a minute and kept talking to each other and folding napkins and utensils. After they noticed us staring at them and looking around they asked if we Needed to be seated. Yes of course...Then they asked if we wanted to sit under the awning outdoors even though there were seats inside that had menus. My mom and I were really cold because it’s about 55 degrees so we were hoping to sit indoors. Not a big deal ... so the hostess tells us if we want to sit that we have to go find our own table. So we are walking around the restaurant like lost puppies looking for a seat. As we make it to the awning area, another waitress tells us that we have to go outside and come around just to look in the same room. At this point I’m confused because I’ve never heard of a customer being told to find their own seat in such a busy restaurant. We decided we didn’t want to keep looking for our own seats, not only because we were given different directions but because we are in the middle of a pandemic and I felt awkward walking around everyone and not knowing what’s available and what’s not. As we were heading out an older white gentleman was greeted as soon as he walked in and was taken to a seat. I left just feeling disappointed at the differential treatment and decided to spend my birthday somewhere else (thank you for the “always friendly” greeting Iron Chef -...
