Lakay Buffet — Restaurant in Town of Monroe

New place and we are so excited it popped up. Inside is simple but elegant and the food is delicious. It’s definitely authentic and the owners are Haitian. The food tastes like home cooking that your mom or aunt would make.

You can eat there but most people take it to go. The buffet selection rotates day to day but most likely you will find two kinds of rice (plain and the beans and rice) plus a chicken and pork dish, fried plantains (like tostones), and griot. Our favorite dishes were a Legim (a bean based stew) that had cooked cabbage and veggies and the beef soup. Looking forward to trying some okra dishes and maybe desserts, patties or other traditional foods.

The owners and managers are super nice and sweet. We came in with our small baby and they offered us their seat. All the people inside were friendly. It is a child-friendly environment as well.

Other people thought about bringing a Haitien restaurant in the Monroe area no one take action. Today is my 1st day in this restaurant. I'm loving it so far.

This Haitien restaurant is morden or up to date for today culture. I love my first dish so far, and the service is pretty good. It a buffet style so I taste most of the food in there so far so great.

Great service. Nice place. Can’t order over the phone for pick up, they ask you to order from the website. I ordered online for pick up and the food was cold. This place has a potential but I’m disappointed that I couldn’t enjoy the meal. I’m sure it’s not made fresh but scooped up from the buffet and packed up to go. I definitely will give it another try because I would love for this place to stay open and small businesses need support. Very nice family is running this business and I wish them well.
