Take it from an expert on this food, they have one of the best chicken kabobs in the country. I have been to many Persian restaurants around the US and this place in Monroe can hold its own against the best. There is no need to travel to NYC or even DC for good Persian food. The joojeh kabob is a delight of flavor, tenderness and juiciness. The salad olvieh(Russian Salad) a mix of egg, potato and chicken salad is a great appetizer and the warm bread that comes with it is perfect for making mini sandwiches or scoops. The salad that comes with the kabob is thoughtful. The rice has a saffron coat that allows you to smell the flavors when it arrives. Don’t miss the grilled tomato on the side. The beef koobideh comes out juicy and buttery. For dessert you won’t go wrong with the bak lava but do yourself a favor and get the Persian ice cream, a rich dessert with saffron, rose water, and pistachio and rose petal topping. The chef is thoughtful in presentation and flavor. The owner is thoughtful on your budget. Finally, no place is complete without good service and you can tell the front of the house is warm and hospitable and wants to see you there. One last mention, this place is advertised as halal. The meat...
Read moreThis restaurant has potential and although it might be living up to it's cultural roots to provide their most authentic food, the food is tasty however not the best. When I say this I stand at the POV of health and quantity of the food. I ordered 1 steak and chicken shawarma & 1 chicken shawarma with Humus. Hats off to it's taste, absolutely delicious makes you crave for more, however they don't add much to the plate. For an entré costing 20$ they provide very little rice and chicken & fill it up with their salad, tomatoes, peppers, & bread. When the hero of the dish is not complimented to it's best it is hard for the customer to reorder the dish. Let's not forget the amount of oil they add to the food. I am Indian and we add oil or clarified butter to our food for it's taste, however when you give little rice soaked in oil, it looks unappetizing. Even the hummus didn't have enough bread to finish the hummus I craved to eat more of it as it tasted better than the entrés. I am willing to give this restaurant another chance as I am big on that and supporting local businesses. As I said in the beginning, this restaurant has plenty of potential and needs more time to customize their cultural food into the...
Read moreDon't let the fact it's in a small strip mall deter you from stopping in. Once you enter, it's a simple, unassuming interior, but this is only hiding a culinary surprise! The food is great!! We ordered the humus and the bread & dip as appetizers and they were both delicious. We got the white and green sauces with the bread. The green sauce had a nice bite to it, but the mint made it refreshing.
For entrees, we got the steak shawarma and Chicken and Beef Koobideh kabob. Again, very enjoyable, and the portions were large.
Anastasia and Jubilee were grand hostesses, and made sure we had everything we needed. We never needed to ask for anything; they always checked on us before we had to ask.
I'm glad we saw this place by chance. We...
