Seafood Village — Restaurant in Town of Newburgh

This restaurant does not follow labor laws. They have employees work more than 8 hours without overtime and without any breaks. The boss, May, makes fun of people in another language. She pays employees under the table as well. She does not train, she expects new employees to train themselves. I worked for five days and she didn’t train me at all. She expected me to learn without being taught. She called me slow three times without any regard for my feelings. I was not slow, I was learning. No customers ever complained about me. I was getting the hang of it and she fired me. I’ve worked as a waitress before and for an Asian restaurant as well and I did very well. I was promoted and got multiple raises. But honestly, the food is good. So I would recommend eating there, but I would not recommend applying for a job. May is simply a disrespectful, uncaring, impatient, mean person. Oh, and the employees do not get the tips, so don’t even bother leaving them any tips because May just takes them...

I went in, and I got a menu, and was looking at the overhead menu, near the front counter,and no one even bothered to say hello to me, let alone ask if I needed any help in ordering.

The woman who was behind the counter, was busy shoveling Ice Cream down her fat mouth. Also the two cooks were shoveling Ice Cream into their pie holes.

To add insult to injury, a man walked in, a few minutes after I was standing there, and immediately the woman behind the counter said hello to this man, then she asked the man how he was doing! And that she hadn't seen him in a long time. And the man was standing next to me .

We saw this place and always intended to come in and now regret not coming in sooner. The service was great and very polite. The place is clean and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. I love the live plants which gives a fresh homey feel. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl with brown rice and a miso soup. Well, my daughter, who usually doesn't like miso soup, slurped it down quick. Yup, delicious! The chicken teriyaki rice bowl had flavor which was quite unique then other teriyaki bowls I've tasted and I loved that.
