I hate to give this place 3 stars because it truly deserves 5. Exceptional service, romantic, beautiful, spotless, restaurant. If this review was based only on the service and the restaurant it would totally get all 5.
Came in on a Saturday night at an early time so didn’t have to make reservations and it was rather quick to get in. After we arrived, it started filling up so it’s probably best to call ahead for reservations.
The staff was amazing, everyone greeted us with a warm smile and was very attentive at our needs and refilling our water/rice.
Im obsessed with Indian food and we’ve yet to have a bad experience in an Indian restaurant. I usually order dal makhani and basically know the flavor by heart. I ALWAYS love to order it spicy (the real deal) because I feel it enhances the food and really brings out the flavor. Of course when I ordered it came out everything but spicy. It’s ok, I’m not going to review this based off of my non spicy lentils. They were nice and flavorful just nothing over the top. Still delicious though.
After trying the paneer masala it just felt like cubes of mozzarella cheese dipped in a Campbell soup sauce. Aka, mozzarella sticks with marinara. Not the best experience but it’s alright, I wasn’t the one to order it so it didn’t affect me. Vegetable korma was quite BLAND to say the least. No flavors, nothing exceptional and for a $15 plate of vegetables I had higher expectations on the sauce. Vegetable madras was really good but nothing out of this world.
Here’s my critique: on he whole ambiance is perfect, I just wish the food leveled up to their reputation. Perhaps this was the wrong night? Different chef? Bad day? It’s ok, I’m willing to try it again. I hate to give them 3 stars I wish I could do 3.5 since that’s all i think they do deserve.
Good date night indian- bbq spot. Not the best I’ve ever tried, not the worst. Just in between. Just...
Read more"Are you with them?!" unapologetically said the owner when the three of us walked in. Two Black women and an Italian women. She said it as if she was ready to lend help to our less melinated sister. However, we still remained hopeful that our dining experience would be a joyous one. Boy were we wrong, the service sucked. It's because they lack structure. All the employees (family members) are doing everything! You can't be the waiter, cashier and greeter at the same time! He took just two of our orders while giving our third member (Italian sister) the extra time she needed. He never came back! When we finally got her order inafter 15 minutes, it came out without our meal. We waited 20 miniutes longer which by that time our friend was finishing up. A family of 5 came in a little after us and their staryers and entrees came out before the two of us were able to get our meal. Needless to say our dood did not come out hot! When we were finally able to flag down a waiter, he said the family received their food first because they did not order starters (they did). The owner and a waitress knew they were wrong but treated us as if we were supposed to accept all that happened. They were already on the defense when we walked through their door. "Make them go!" was the last thing we said to us as we left. And this is just half of what...
Read moreI have been to this wonderful authentic Indian bistro barbecue with large groups on several occasions and they always exceed our expectations. The staff is friendly and always greets you with a smile. Plenty of labeled vegan options on the menu.
Today's order was papadams, root fritters, lasdoni Gobi and bindhi bhuna. The restaurant was fairly empty on this Sunday lunch. Indian music was playing at a volume that was fairly loud, but not overpowering. The staff was very attentive, as always.
The papadams came after 5 minutes. They were rich in flavor, but not too filling with mild spice. Excellent for sharing.
The root fritters came after 12 minutes and had a hearty flavor with a crispy exterior and a warm soft filling. However, this dish should be enjoyed with no more than 2-3 as the portion is not very large.
The lassoni gobi was served after 16 minutes. This may be the best starter today. I don't think I have enjoyed cauliflower more in any other form.
The entrees were served together after 28 minutes. The bindhi bhuna was served with garlic naan and was to die for.
My one wish would be that they add a vegan mango lassi to the menu.
If you find yourself in Armonk with a craving for a delicious Indian meal, I highly...
