Aki Sushi & Asian Fusion — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

I purchased the lunch shrimp teriyaki and eel roll to go. The place looked nice but I didn’t dine in. The people seemed nice as well so I can’t say anything outside of how the food was.

Saddened about what I received. Never have I ever tasted a more bland dish in my life. I’m not sure if this was meant to be this way because of the neighborhood I purchased it in or what but I’ve had some gentrified cuisine that tasted better. The shrimp was chewy(overcooked). The presentation was ok but realistically if they put more effort in the seasoning and overall flavor it would have been better. I really want to understand what part was teriyaki because it was merely lightly dampened with the sauce. The veggies were cooked ok but again, everything was lacking flavor. I can honestly say perhaps the white rice was the best part and that’s not saying much cause you can’t really mess rice up. If it weren’t for the fact that I had to walk far in the heat to purchase/ pickup this I would have walked it right back for a refund.

The sushi was mid at best that came in the lunch special, it was just soggy avocado.And the eel ones had more avocado than anything. Not sure if the price of eel is too much but I could barely find it in my rolls. If you check the close up with the eel roll, what looks like eel is just the rice with sauce. Just call it an avocado roll not an eel avocado when the ratio is 4:1. In short way too much avocado in both sushi.

Take my review as you wish since I’m just visiting this area but some advice: don’t let the area change your cuisine so much that it loses its authenticity, identity, or seasonings from its culture. Honestly, leaving this review breaks my heart. I’ve done countless orders both pick up/delivery and I’m not even giving such a low score because of the food! The food is always amazing, and I’ve been ordering sushi only from here since the pandemic!

I was more upset about my recent interaction with the delivery individual. I was feeling a bit sick and wanted to order some food for myself + my siblings because of a family occasion! I didn’t have too much $$ but seeing that I’ve ordered from them a countless amount of times, with my distance from the restaurant being reasonably close! I thought that leaving a lower tip just this once would be okay. I was met with an angry delivery personnel who snatched my receipt off of the bag and yelled at me for putting such a low tip during the dinner time. He angrily stopped off, while I was left with mixed emotions. To be honest, I’ve never left a bad review—much less any review IN GENERAL! Food was not tasty at all. We had spicy food and was not spicy at all. called 2 times (first time they just hang up) the restaurant. james, the manager was very unfriendly and loud on the phone and did not even listened. He told me that restaurant policy is to make the food not spicy! even when they state on the menue that it is spicy .... crazy policy.... and the food overall was not that tasty. somehow they forgot to put some spices in the food. food was tasteless....
