Barbara's Bagels — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

Went here with my father after our truck broke down. Walked in and ordered a Bacon Egg & Cheese on a roll and a Sausage Egg & Cheese on a roll w/ SPK.

Service was fine. The gentleman at the counter was visually tired but not rude in any way.

I received a bacon egg and cheese instead of a sausage one but I was not going to say anything. I’m glad I didn’t. It was the best BECCY I’ve had. Not sure if it was one of those one in a million lucky sandwichs but the egg was perfectly cooked with cheese still melting and holding the egg and bacon together. The bacon was perfectly crispy but not hard and crumbly- altogether served on a bagel that was both fantastically sweet and savory. Hands down best BEC I’ve ever had. Barbara's bagels was such a a wonderful surprise. We are headed out of town after a wedding and I needed a lox bagel. Hubby (pictured) found Barbara's bagels on a quick Google search. Walking in you can definitely tell this is where the locals go. The owner? Manager? Is super friendly and knows regulars by name. I got lox and scallion cream cheese on everything and hubby got a bacon egg and cheese on sesame. He said it was the best bagel sandwich he's ever had! We both got delicious iced coffee. The bagels are big and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. My one wish is that they had capers on the lox bagel. Blatantly overcharged, told prices were higher than what's listed on the price board. First asked for over $20. Egg salad bagel, 2 eggs on roll, small coffee and gatorade. Then said was a mistake and said 12.50 for the egg salad bagel and the eggs/roll without the drinks. Again asked where that number came from. Egg salad bagel says 4.99. Charged me 5.50 + charged an extra 1.25 for using a rainbow bagel on a sandwich. Was never told about this rediculous surcharge and no sign anywhere indicating the rainbow bagels are over 100% higher cost than a regular bagel.
