A Heartfelt Shoutout to Shibley Day Camp - Beyond Our Wildest Expectations!

Prepare to be amazed! Shibley Day Camp is an absolute gem, and I couldn't wait to share our incredible experience with everyone.

When we enrolled our son Mason at Shibley, my expectations were high, as a lifelong camp enthusiast myself. But let me tell you, Shibley soared far above and beyond those expectations!

Mason's days at Shibley were an adventure-filled dream. From the unforgettable "Lip Sync Battle" to making lifelong friends, creating incredible projects in Arts and Crafts of which Mason was incredibly proud, and enjoying the cool waters of the pool, every day was a new and exciting journey.

However, the true highlight was the personalized attention Mason (himself, and we as parents) received from the entire Shibley team. When Mason faced a little setback in not passing his Deep Water Test at first, that's where the magic of Shibley's team shone. Mason was nervous and hadn't previously learned what was being asked of him. But Jamie, the Swim Director, was not only quick to respond to my email but called me to discuss the situation personally.

Jamie's attentiveness was a game-changer. She gave Mason the individual attention he needed and re-tested him. With Jamie's guidance, Mason not only passed the test with flying colors but also learned to be the incredible swimmer we knew he could be with a shocking level of expertise in so very many strokes, thanks to the lessons and support Shibley provided him.

Moreover, Heath and the entire camp administration set the stage for Shibley's values to shine through. We were thrilled to experience the interactive Visiting Day, where we parents joined in the fun (and competition!), playing competitive rounds of Newcomb and getting a firsthand look at the joys of Shibley.

And let's not forget about Senior Boys 1B Group Leader Zoe and Assistant Group Leader Ray, who are just one set of examples of the amazing staff that make Shibley feel like a home away from home.

We were so blown away by Shibley that we even canceled a week of baseball camp to give Mason a fourth week at Shibley! This staff and these facilities create an environment that makes it "impossible for children to leave"!

If you're a parent searching for a camp where your child will have the time of their life, stay safe, put your mind to rest, and really truly grow and learn, Shibley Day Camp is your ultimate destination. And I say this completely envious of Mason because I indeed asked no fewer than 4 times if "I could go to camp."

Thank you, Shibley, for a summer full of unforgettable memories that Mason will cherish forever. We're already counting down the days until next year's adventures....

My son has been attending Shibley for 3 summers and his experience has been absolutely magical and thrilling. My happy camper wakes up and goes to sleep everyday/night with excitement, eagerly recounting the day’s adventures. The team running camp truly cares about each camper, creating a nurturing, supportive environment that really understands children and how to bring out each child’s spark.

All of the activities and events are not only super fun but also well thought-out and well balanced. Friendships are nurtured, sports are engaging and positive, arts (music, dance, drama) are dynamic, and there is plenty for my adventure-seeker (adventure park, go-karts). Three years ago my son came to Shibley scared to swim and now his whole team cheers when he passes his deep water test (and he has been swimming beautifully for three years). The educator in me should also mention that science and robotics/coding is just as exciting for my son. From Carnival to Waterworld Day, every event means so much to my child.

The staff’s dedication is evident in every detail from the welcoming smile to the attentive attention to what matters to each camper. Heath and his team are so responsive, always wanting to hear what the kids are saying about their experience. There’s no doubt that they create a strong sense of belonging for everyone. Shibley is truly a gem and I know my son can’t wait to return...

We are extremely happy with the experience our children had at Shibley Day Camp. Heath and his entire staff were working 24/7 to make sure that each minute of camp is a fun, memorable moment. They are dedicated in selecting staff members that are kind, welcoming, and truly care about making children enjoy camp. Both children felt welcome to the Shibley family. Shibley is where new friends were made and seeing our children feel confident in the new games and skills they learned made our dreams come true. Even days ahead of a summer storm, Heath maintained parents updated regarding safety plans and always placed safety as the top priority. We felt they maintained excellent protocols to keep children and staff, never in our lifetime would we think a pandemic would happen, but safe fun never stopped. The camp grounds are beautiful and transports you to a secluded wonderland in the woods of Long Island. The abundant trees provide a cool canopy for campers to enjoy the summer. Several pools and slides to cool off. Each morning at drop off you can see staff maintaining the pools and grounds. Go Karts, Ziplines, Rock wall climbing, cooking, arts and sports are just some of the amazing activities. 2021 was the first year our children (ages 8 and 12) attended, and definitely will not be their last. Our oldest is even looking forward to hopefully becoming a counselor at...
