First timers at Eric’ s on Valentine’s day. I knew going out on V-day wasn’t going to be perfect, but have been wanting to try this mineola bistro. The restaurant was decorated and looked festive. We started with a lemoncello martini (a signature cocktail on menu) and a bottle of wine. The martini was awful. It tasted like triple sec and vodka. No lemon element at all. One of the servers offered to make it over and the second one was delicious. Now for the wine…….the cork broke when the server opened it. There were pieces of cork in the bottle. The waiter asked if we wanted it decanted and filtered. After a discussion, the server said he could do it with a bleached coffee filter. My husband said no thanks, because the bleached coffee filter could change the integrity of the wine. We filtered it once we got home. If you’re selling bottles of wine, they should have a way to filter the wine properly (not a V-day thing, normal restaurant operations). So, we started off with a very rocky start. Our appetizers and main meals were good. Baked clams, meatballs, lasagna and a seafood pasta dish. , They offered a dessert sampler with the price fix. We don’t eat chocolate, so they offered us cheesecake. The cheesecake was inedible. It was hard like a rock and didn’t taste fresh. I actually picked it up with my fork and could have flicked it across the room. it was laughable. To end the evening the madre-d (seemed like the manager/owner) gave me a rose as we were getting our coats on. Never engaged us in any conversation. Perhaps if he would have asked how our meal was, I wouldn’t have been upset enough to write this review and we would try this...
Read moreThis restaurant is situated close to the Mineola court houses and the LIRR. It has a very nice ambiance.. great place for talking with others over dinner and not having to contend with overbearing music. Tables are nicely spaced. The wait service is friendly. The only complaint is that service was slow, possibly because there was a shortage of waiters. We had to flag down other help to find our waiter to take our orders, to later ask when our dinner was coming and lastly to get our check. It was a Saturday evening during a holiday weekend and not crowded.
The table bread and flat bread was generous as was the bruschetta. The menu had a lot of interesting choices, moderately priced. The chicken entrees and the pasta entrees ordered in our group were generous and tasty. So were the green salads pre -entree. However, the salmon was disappointing. Even though it was crusted, it was very dry. Also there were only a few little potatoes buried in what was a salad, no vegetables, that essentially duplicated what we had ordered as our pre -entree salad. There was plenty of on-street parking. I'm sure we will go back again at some point but not...
Read more8/10/2020 We visited Eric's twice in the past three weeks. Happy to report the food is up to their usual high standard. We had lunch at first, then last night arrived for dinner, both times with a groupon. I had the scallops scampi, she had salmon she said was delicious. This fine restaurant is now open with a few tables outside on Old Country Rd, but inside is very comfortable and staff go the extra mile with friendly service. A tasty hors d'oeurve was served while awaiting our meal. They are closed on Mondays.
Have visited this pleasant small Italian restaurant on several occasions. Located amid storefronts just a short walk east from Mineola's Nassau County courts on Old Country Road. Aside from an order mixup on our last visit (made easier to digest with a free drink all round) the service is helpful, the bread is warm and crusty, the food always flavorful. The decor is very low key and low volume music adds to the ambience. Parking available but metered in front of the restaurant, also free parking on Juniper or Geranium side streets. Groupons...
