Monroe’s Restaurant @ 199 Post Avenue in downtown Westbury. It’s the location where the former “Benny’s” use to be. We’ve now had dinner there 5 times in the last four weeks; and every dinner was a home-run!
We had dined there before but that was almost 11 months ago. Since that time, the owners and staff have streamlined the menu and updated it; keeping the favorites and added some new dishes. We’ve tried a variety of appetizers such as Fried Risotto Balls; stuffed with Meat, Cheese & Peas on a bed of Light Romano Sauce. We also had the Caesar salad with the creamy dressing. Also tried the Tuscan salad several times: Mixed Greens with Cucumber, Tomato, Red Onion, dried Cranberry, Walnuts, and crumbled Goat Cheese, topped with a Light Creamy Vinaigrette Dressing.
Loved their soup, in this case it was the Shrimp Bisque; great rich creamy flavor loaded with pieces of shrimp. Or try the traditional hearty Pasta fagioli; we had that on another visit there.
For main courses on these visits we had a Chicken Avocado Sandwich (GF), a Buttermilk Fried Chicken Cutlet served with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles, topped with Avocado & Chipotle Aioli on a toasted Brioche bun. It was breaded and perfectly light. Also as a “special on one of our visits we had medallions of Pork Tenderloin in a brown chestnut sauce with roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. That was so outstanding we enjoyed that on two separate visits. Another outstanding dish was the grilled Branzino served in a Garlic Lemon White Wine sauce. We closed out our dinners with expresso, cappuccino, gelato and complimentary Limoncello. Service was excellent and attentive, consistently checking-in to insure everything was good, and that we were satisfied with everything. Fabulous dining experiences for us there as we have returned and...

We started out with drinks and appetizers. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide us to delicious appetizer choices. I had the eggplant rollatini special and my dad had the clams orreganata. I order items with vodka sauce quite frequently and this was the best I have ever had. It was smooth and creamy with amazing flavor! The homemade focaccias bread was delicious and airy, the perfect piece of bread to soak up the remainder of the sauces from our appetizers (because it was too good to leave a single drop).
For dinner I ordered the skirt steak, medium rare. The marinade was sensational, and the skirt steak cut like butter! It was cooked to perfection. Even the vegetables and potatoes it came with were delicious. My dad ordered the penne Ala vodka and added chicken cutlet to the dish. He couldn’t stop raving about it.
We were so full after our appetizers and main entrees, but the dessert menu was too tempting. We shared a slice of the raspberry cheesecake and oh my goodness, if you like cheesecake, order this! They make it in house and it was the perfect sweet treat to end our dining experience. I paired it with a cappuccino. Monroe’s doesn’t disappoint, even to the last detail. My cappuccino had a cute cinnamon heart on top.
Overall, Monroe’s was truly a delightful and pleasant experience. We will definitely be returning and recommending to all of our...
Read moreWow, I've got to say, this spot in Westbury on Post Ave totally deserves a five-star review! My wife was turning the big 3-0 and we wanted to find the perfect place to throw her a birthday party with family and friends. We dropped by to test the food and drinks- and man, we were blown away.
From the moment we walked in, Daniella and the rest of the team made us feel like we were long-lost friends. Service? Absolutely top-notch. And the food? Unreal. We kicked things off with some appetizers – baked clams, buffalo wings, fried egg rolls. Every single bite was delicious.
For the main event, I had this awesome steak sandwich while my wife had a seriously tasty burger and fries, BBQ sauce was really good. And the pasta, oh the pasta - soooo good!
Drinks didn't disappoint either. I tried something called the Monkey Business, a quirky twist on an Old Fashioned. Spot on! My wife went for the Bombshell Mule, a fun take on a Moscow Mule. That drink was so good I ended up stealing it half the time!
After this taste test, we knew we'd found our party spot. And the best part? The prices didn't make our wallets cry. When the big day rolled around, the bombshell Mule was my drink of choice, and our friends couldn't stop raving about how much they loved everything.
So, if you're in Westbury and you're hungry, do yourself a favor and check this place out. It's a hidden...
