First, I want to say that the coffee/beverages and food at Union St Coffee House are fantastic! I was happily surprised to even see a couple of vegan options on the menu, including a warm peanut butter and banana wrap -- perfect fuel for our kayak adventure to follow! I wish I could have given this a higher rating because, as a local establishment and a place for delightful yummies, I think their rating should be higher...except their insufficient staffing and meh customer service started our whole visit out with a bad taste in our mouth that even great iced coffee couldn't quite wash away. There were three employees behind the counter: one on register and two on everything else (including delivering food to tables). We were there at 10am Sunday morning, which we all know is hot time for cafe business. There was a solid flow of customers, but not unmanageable by normal standards. The rush mostly came behind us as we were waiting. The service was....so....slow....and discombobulated. The woman taking our order seemed frazzled and confused (admittedly) and asked us to repeat things more than once, which is fine but....then our ticket was lost so, upon noticing customers walking out with their drinks/food who had ordered well after we had, we had to remind them that we had food and coffee still coming (as well as a reminder of what exactly we had ordered). All told, it took us 20 minutes to receive two orders of iced coffee and banana/pb wraps. As I said, the food, beverages, even the atmosphere -- aside from the tangible stress of the poor folks working -- was fabulous. We love the cute outside eating area that is reminiscent of Europe and will, of course, go again - but hoping the management will consider rush times when staffing and ensure that that there are enough properly trained people working to make things happy...
Read moreThe prices may seem a but high compared to chain restaurants, but it's such a cute place to sit down and relax. My favorite time is during the fall, or winter. Very comfortable during the chilly seasons. I like to be in very air conditioned spaces during the warm season, so I'm not likely to visit when it's hot.
The food is very good along with the drinks. My favorite thing to get is their southwestern breakfast sandwich. They also have delicious baklava! Any one of their caffeine drinks is enjoyable. The workers are always very busy with the demands, but also friendly.
Overall, this is a very good small village stop and I hope it is around for...
Read moreLayla takes my order pretty much everytime I go in and is always super sweet and patient. Phil brought me out my food today and he has a very warm welcoming energy. This coffee house is in my hometown and has a really sweet tone to it all the time. The workers keep everything clean and calm even when it’s busy and have never messed up one of my orders. Even when I do hear people who might not be the happiest, they fix it efficiently without a fuss. Love it here. PS, get the garlic wrap, it’s the best thing I’ve had here and inspired this review lol. I’ve also never written a review for anything before without being prompted, so...
