WORST EXPERIENCE! This is not about the food this is about he owner/bar tender.
Pete, the drunk owner, who doesn't understand Customer Service, but yet is in the service industry.
Tonight my family wanted to get Thai, and looking at the reviews of Kwan Thai, we decided to give it a try. We ordered three items, online, and were given a time for it be ready. We ordered at 8:22 PM, and were given a pickup time of 8:53pm (Paid Online).
I get to the restaurant, about 5 minutes earlier, and walk in, and go to the bar, where Pete is talking and getting drinks for those seated at the bar. Not once does he acknowledge me or say anything to me. At the same time there is waitress, who is also at the bar, and after about 5 minutes, of standing there she finally asks, if I placed and order and for my name. I give it to her and she says it will be out shortly.
Ten minutes go by now, still no order, and now I am aggravated. I placed my order 30 mins ago, your service is telling me to be there at a certain time, and you have my money, and I am at the restaurant early. I have fulfilled everything that a customer/patron should when ordering takeout. Pete finally, decides to talk to me, he gets up in my personal space, and tells me that it "Take time, this is not McDonalds". He goes on to introduce himself, and tries to start a conversation with me, saying that he doesn't give times for orders. I proceed to tell him that he does, and pull out my phone with the email that is sent when the order was placed. He tells me that the online service is the one promising times, not him and that his waitresses, know to always say at least 30 mins. (Pete if you don't quote times, then why do your waitresses know to say at least 30 mins???).
After about another 10 mins, my order finally comes out, the waitress goes to another Patron who is waiting on their food as well. She finally checks with me, and its my order. As I am checking the order receipt Pete walks up, and is mumbling something, (again to close to comfort, Pete you really should learn to respect other peoples space). I confirm my order, and begin to walk out irritated/aggravated just wanting to get the F* out of this place. Pete says something to the effect, smile you got your food, I responded back, "Bro I don't have to smile, and the last time I will ever come here". Pete responds, and I quote "Well we will still be busy".
Buddy thats great that you will still be busy, but I hope this review makes other potential customers think about visiting you establishment, since obviously you have no clue how to...
Read morewhen you order your check, please go over it carefully as you may find yourself paying double tip
We go to this restaurant at least once a month. the food is okay. The total price was usually on the more expensive side but I never bothered looking at the invoice's details. Today, after having lunch there, I asked for the check. the sub total was $56 + taxes. I then noticed that they added $10.50 as a gratitude fee. when I asked the waitresses why they added the gratitude fee (even thought we were only 3 people), she said "its only $10...).
when they gave me the credit card slip to sign, I saw that in addition to the $71 total, there was a blank "tip" filed for me to fill out...... besides the fact that gratitude fees is usually taken when you are a party of more than 6 or 8 people, this restaurant took the freedom to charge everyone. and like myself, I presume, many people don't pay attention to the fact that they already paid the tip and add another tip on the CC slip - nice way for a restaurant to increase revenue........
this restaurant just lost a...
Read moreFood was great. Service was good. I was eating alone and it was my first time there. I tipped the server well.
As I was departing, the bartender requested me to stop and give him a hug. I did.
What followed was one of the weirdest encounters I've had (and I've had quite a few). We stood there shaking hands for maybe five minutes while he was talking gibberish. This was in front of other patrons. This bartender was now invading my space and my time. There even was talk of someone punching someone. It was just bizarre behavior. I didn't initiate it and I didn't want any part of it.
Is this how Kwan Thai treats its first-time customers? I have a healthy sense of humor and this was not funny.
I finally told Pete (I found out his name during our overextended handshake) that I had to go.
I think Pete was drunk.
I don't plan on...
