We loved the Gracie Rose initially, but some things have changed with the new ownership that we are disappointed with. Pros: adorable decor, still has delicious homemade potato leek soup and other good homemade items. Nice people. 1 big con: Tea for 1, and pricey for what you get. I was there in February 2022 with my daughter, who wanted teatime. When we were there in 2022, she got a substantial sandwich (see picture), a homemade scone, and 2 homemade pastries on the top tier of her tiered tea platter, plus a large pot of tea. It was great. We went back to the Gracie Rose on Juneteenth this year, and though the place was full we noted that we were the only table in that moment ordering “Tea for 1.” My daughter’s tea did not come on a 3-tiered platter as expected, and we were told that tea for 2 is served that way, but no longer tea for 1, so that was disappointing for her. She’s a kid, and nobody else was using those, so why not serve it on the tiered platter to her? That’s half the joy of ordering tea! Her teapot was half the size of last year’s, and though she ordered chamomile it was poured immediately, with no mention of steeping. I explained to her that they should have mentioned she should let it sit, because she couldn’t understand why she basically had hot water in her cup. The biggest problem, however, was the food. Instead of the generous meal she was expecting, she got a real tea sandwich, which was a skinny finger sandwich, and half the size of the year before. Her scone was either not homemade or not fresh - it had no crust and was too soft - I tasted it to check. And her dessert was a cut up candy bar in a bowl, plus 1 pre-packaged raspberry crème cookie. The tea was very mediocre and disappointing, and really poor value for $25! There was no wow factor at all, and the scone and dessert were really unappealing. I would return for the soup, but I definitely wouldn’t get Tea...
Read moreI did not dine here but after my experience I NEVER WILL!! I am not one to leave a bad review on a restaurant because I understand that not one experience represents a business but this restaurant was a bad experience and I did not even eat from there. They literally lied to me when I called yesterday to ask if they do reservations and tell me they DO NOT DO RESERVATIONS …not that they don’t have for that day, not that they are booked THAT THEY DO NOT DO RESERVATIONS IN GENERAL AND ITS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. So tell me why when I get there at 12 BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME YOU DO NOT NEED RESERVATIONS they tell me all the tables are reserved after 12:30 so I could stay if I want but only for 30 minutes!! THEY TOLD ME they don’t hold seats so how is everything reserved. And when I mentioned the call i made the day before the lady at the front tried to back pedal and say they only do reservation for Afternoon tea not mornin dining BUT THEY NEVER even gave me that option or mentioned they even do that when I called they just said no reservations at all. So we leave but I feel suspicious so I have a friend of mine call around a hour later to see if they have something AND THEY TELL HER THEY HAVE 2 TABLES AVAILABLE!! I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS BOOKED FOR THE DAY. I have never experienced something like this ever. The tea itself in boxed, the food is greasy. I WILL NEVER GO...
Read moreThe Gracie Rose is hands down the most delightful, the most adorable, and in my opinion, the BEST brunch spot in all of Pearl River if not Rockland! The portions are good for the price; they have breakfast, lunch, and also hot takeaway options; the food feels really authentic Irish/ British (curries, handpies, potato soup, etc). You can serve yourself a single tea/coffee or order a pot to share. The décor is so cute and creative, there’s plenty of space, and the service is great! The ladies check on you often (after you pay at the counter) and will help you out with whatever you request. The wait time for food is reasonable, it’s not too bad for a table when it’s crowded, and there’s lots of parking. My recommendation is the full, traditional Irish breakfast, and while you wait, check out the gigantic spread of imported treats on the wall for something fun...
