PIZZA CITY — Restaurant in Town of Orangetown

I will admit I have been slacking on my reviews since I went back-to-back on vacation three times. This local pizza place is a hidden gem that was introduced to us by my Aunt Deborah (Debbie) Langer, who always orders pizza here for my cousins. They have been ordering from here for well over five years. I figured I should give this place a chance since my aunt spoke highly of it. Surely enough, this pizza place did not disappoint. In fact, we have made it our favorite pizza place to enjoy as well. The owners and staff are remarkably generous! They seem to also get along so well with their regular customers that it is like their recurring customers become a part of their family. It is amazing to see this hospitality and kindness in a restaurant setting. I personally love the creativity of this restaurant and how every time I come there is a new type of pizza pie or new menu item. This place not only has delicious pizza but is a CLASS ACT!!! I called to order a pie for a friend's child who has just returned from the hospital. This child wanted a pepperoni pizza when he got out, so I ordered one as a surprise. To be as annoying as possible and to take it a step further, I asked if they could shape it as a heart. The woman I spoke with (I didn't catch her name) didn't blink an eye after she told me they don't take credit cards over the phone but that I can pay (or not!) whenever I get the chance. She was so touched by this story and insisted "life is too short" and this is more important than getting the money! OMG!! I seriously teared up, and thanked her immensely, assuring her she will get the money from myself tomorrow or I that will have a family member in the neighborhood stop by. That act act of kindness will stay with me for a very loooong time. That, coupled with the DELICIOUS pizza is the reason I will be frequenting Pizza City every time I am in town!!!!! This is by far the best pizza place in Rockland County. The owner Liz was such a good friend, great boss, and fantastic role model when it comes to work ethic. When on a job, I'm often complimented on my work ethic because I never subscribed to that "it's not my job" bull $hit mentality. If there's work to be done, you do it because you're part of the team. I take a lot of pride in my work ethic, but it's all from learning from Liz. That woman is one of my heros.

Beyond, supporting a great person, the food is delicious. I don't get back to Pearl River but once every year or so nowadays with the pandemic, but you can bet your last dollar next time I'm up there I'm gonna stop in for some great food and to reunite with the best...
