Taco Taxi — Restaurant in Town of Orangetown

Came in with my wife and decided to try the quesadillas—she went with a simple cheese, while I opted for The Taxi with carnitas. Unfortunately, both missed the mark.

My quesadilla was overly oily and lacked any crispiness, which was a real letdown. The carnitas, lettuce, and tomatoes were solid, but at that point, I might as well have just ordered a salad. I was starving, so I powered through a little more than half, but it wasn’t the enjoyable bite I was hoping for.

My wife’s cheese quesadilla, on the other hand, was dry and soft—again, no crisp crunch, which is kind of a dealbreaker for us when it comes to quesadillas.

That said, the service was a bright spot! The girl at the counter was super friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job, which was refreshing given some of the less-than-pleasant service interactions I’ve had elsewhere lately.

Overall, I really wanted to like this spot, but the execution on the food just wasn’t there. Might give it another shot down the line, but as of now, I’d say...

Such a disappointing experience tonight. I went to pick up an order that was supposed to be ready at 6, but I received it at 6:20, that’s okay. But when I got home, I noticed items were missing. I immediately called and said I’d be coming back for them. I assumed the girl on the phone would have told the kitchen I was coming back, but when I get there 10 minutes later, after a few minutes she asked what it was that I needed (???).

So she writes the ticket for the kitchen, said it’d be 10 minutes. I’m waiting for 20 more minutes, then she proceeds to go into the bar area with two customers (she was the only phone/counter person).

I see that my order is up behind the counter, and I literally had to tell her to please come get it for me. Not a single apology or acknowledgment that I’ve been at this for an hour. And I get it, the service industry sucks, so I expect the bare minimum. But this was so disappointing & I...

Ordered 2 Birria tacos @ 15$ (per the menu ok the counter) they then tried to charge me 37$.

The girl at the counter insists few times that “It’s tax”even after I point out that 7$ tax on 30$ bill is not “tax”. She then pivots and says “oh this is not 15$, it’s more”. Wtf.

Turns out the menu on the counter, had the wrong price. This may have been OK if it was politely pointed out. But dismissive attitude of the girl really pissed me off. And there was no apologies offered at the end of the interaction.

Birria Taco was just OK. I expected birria taco to be grilled on the flat top with crispy sides. But this was not the case. Their Birria taco is basically Birria meat with some cheese served with consommé. So in my book, even though the meet was OK, they birria Taco gets only a C or C plus.

So in summary, OK food, bad service, and clean and pleasant...
